    How can I transfer the video from the camera to a dvd.. I successfully transfer but can only open on a computer that has the cam's software... crazy

Yes you can, you need to get a suitable SVHS input device for your PC, Some video cards & TV, have this feature to connect up a Video/Audio signal into your PC, there are also USB 2 ones as well, all are much the same... anyway after you have hardware and software installed. Connect the camera up to the input, Video & Audio, start "Capture" software, press "Play" on Camcorder, and then "Record" on capture software.. this will stream the video & audio onto the hard drive for later manipulation or playing or burning to DVD.

The lights signal data transfer so no lights = no transfer. It's clear that the hard disk inside your Passport has failed and, since it can't be repaired, all the data was lost and the unit is dead.
Buy a new one.

Copy and paste my man. There's no quick fix to it. I suggest you make a folder for pics, ebooks, etc. Then just transfer the folders onto your hard drive.
