TR Roller The error message on the display screen of my Brother MFC-9420cn says: NO TR ROLLER Install the transfer roller. I followed the instructions on the brother website to take it out and put it back in again and it still says the same thing. I have switched it on and off. Any ideas? or can anyone signpost me where to go to get a solution. Thanks keith Boyd [email protected]

Have you tried unplugging the unit for a period of time to clear the error? Or maybe the TR roller needs to be replaced. Depending on usage the roller might be misshapen & the sensor/s don't recognize that it's in place. Have you written to Brother about this problem? It may be a problem they've encountered before & they might have an easy solution or it may require sending it for repair.

Good luck!

When ready to print paper only goes through a little and then message says paper jam..it now happens all the time

If you have had your printer for some time now it could possibly be that the feeder rollers are worn and aren't picking up the paper correctly, causing the printer to think it is jammed. The rollers don't have to be changed very often, but they do get old. A new roller kit will cost you anywhere between 30 and 50 dollars online. They are super easy to install. The only thing to make sure of is: don't order a full maintenance kit. Yes, they have the rollers, but they are most likely going to send you a fuser as well, which will triple the cost. Try to find just the rollers. The replaceable rollers are; the transfer roller, paper pick-up roller (which is probably your problem), cleaning roller, and separator pad (also one that has to do with the paper).

Error message: No TR Roller Install the transfer roller

Hi

This error has already been noticed by Brother and they have a fix for this issue. This message will appear on your Brother machine if the ground clip is not present on the Transfer Roller Assembly. The clip can become dislodged due to a paper jam or removal of the Transfer Roller assembly.

Faded Image coming from Brother 9420cn

You probably have the new roller by now.  But just incase the problem continues, clean the high voltage contact on the right side for the roller and on the drum unit itself.  If it is dirty you'll get light printing.

Brother 9420cn message on display transfer roller not installed, appeared during printing session, cannot rectify

Replacing the transfer roller
1 Turn off the machine’s power switch.
2 Open the back cover of the machine.
3 Release the transfer roller lock levers on
the right and left-hand sides, and then lift
the levers to release the transfer roller.
4 Take out the transfer roller by gently
pulling the right-hand side up and sliding
the transfer roller to the right.
5 Put in the new transfer roller by holding
the lock levers of the transfer roller and
adjusting the angle of the transfer roller
lever shafts (both sides) to match the
transfer unit grooves. Put the transfer
roller onto the shafts and place the roller
onto the springs as shown below:
6 Push the lock levers down to lock the
transfer roller into place.
7 Close the back cover.
8 Turn the machine’s power switch back
on.

Open the back cover near the top. The transfer roller is part of the cover that you open.
