Check in device manager. To do this. 1st right click my computer, 2nd Click properties, 3rd click hardware, 4th click Device manager, 5th check that the computer is seeing the DVD/CD-ROM drives by double clicking the DVD/CD-ROM drives words or click the + symbol next to DVD/CD-ROM drives, the drop down menu will list your device if it’s there. If a device is listed double click the device. If it says it’s working properly click driver in the top bar and uninstall, then re-boot, the system will re-load the driver on re-booting. If the driver was corrupt it will re-install it correctly.
If the system cannot find the driver on re-booting it's missing from the systems file, go to the Support Fujitsu site and download and install the driver. Its free all you have to do is put the laptop details in the appropriate boxes and all the drivers for that laptop will be listed.
From your description of the error message it’s no doubt a corrupt or missing driver.
Hope this helps.

To fix this issue you need find the corrupt filters for the cd/dvd rom and take the registry backup. Now after registry backup is done you need to find the upper and lower filters. If you find them deleted one of them and uninstall/reinstall the drive. If that doesn't work then you need to restore the registry and delete the another filter and uninstall/reinstall the cd/dvd drive. After it is done just reboot the system and the drive will work for sure.

If you are unable to follow the solution then click on this link on "how to fix cd dvd drive not working" Issue

Best of Luck.

Hi

if your Error code is Code 29 (This device is disabled because the firmware of the device did not give it the required resources. (Code 29))

Then
Recommended resolution

Enable the device in the BIOS.

Enable the device in the BIOS
**********************************

Enable the device in the BIOS of the device. For information about how to make this change, see the hardware documentation or contact the hardware vendor.
*************************************************
If error code is

Code 39
(Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39))

************
Cause

There are several causes of Code 39 errors:

* A required device driver is missing.
* A required binary file is corrupted.
* There is a problem with the file I/O process.
* A driver that is referencing an entry point in another binary file is unable to load.

Recommended resolution

Reinstall the drivers for this device.

Uninstall and reinstall the driver

Uninstall the driver from Device Manager, and then scan for new hardware to install the driver again.

You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. Windows may have the driver built-in, or may still have the driver files installed from the last time that you set up the device. However, sometimes, it will open the New Hardware Wizard which may ask for the driver. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor’s Web site.

1. On the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall. Follow the instructions.
2. Restart your computer.
3. Open Device Manager, click Action, and then click Scan for hardware changes. Follow the instructions.

I hope any of this will
solve your problem

I was just given a Dell Dimension 3000 by my daughter, who said there was no problems with it. It has a CD-Rom drive and a DVD-RW drive. When I power it up and click on MyComputer, neither of these drives...

They probably can't load because they are loading at the same time and XP can't sort it out.
Remove the cable from the CD ROM and re boot but enter the BIOS and make sure it is no loonger there.
The nachine should load the DVD rom.
You can try adding the CD rom now, it may work but being XP it may grab the wrong driver again and hang up.
Download new drivers from Dell.com
Hope this helps.

Code 37 on dvd drive

The Code 37 error may occur when the concerned device is not connected to the system correctly and when its driver is faulty. A code 10 error is common when you add or remove USB devices or video & sound cards to and from your PC. When these errors occur, you may receive the error message given below.
Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)
To resolve code 37 errors, first ensure that your device is properly connected to your system. For instance, check all the cables of your printer or check that your sound or video adaptor is properly seated in its slot.
Try to remove and reinstall the device, and run the Add New Hardware Wizard from the Control Panel to see if Windows detects and installs it. If this does not resolve the issue, then update the device driver by performing the following steps:
1. Open Control Panel and select System.
2. In the System Properties dialog box, select Hardware tab, and then click on the Device Manager tab.
3. Scroll down the Device Manager window and identify the faulty hardware from the list.
4. Right-click on the hardware and select Update Driver.
5. Follow the screen instructions to resolve the error.
If these steps do not resolve your error, then the problem might be with your device. Get it checked by an authorized technician.

Drive not showing in WinXP (error code 39)Liteon Combo SOHC-5236v

After loading the Windows, the DVD/CD-ROM drives work properly, but we can not see the drives in “My Computer” (System can not recognize the drives.). When try to run the drives, it shows up a notice “Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code39).” Before solving this error, check the drives connection correctly, then follow the steps below:
Delete Device Manager. Most people will firstly think of Windows “Find New Hardware” when drives missed, but it does not always work out. To fix the problem: open “My Computer”’ “Control Panel” ’“System”’“Device Manager”’ “HDC(Hard Disk Controller) ”, then click “Delete”. Follow the note to reboot computer. After rebooting, the computer will find the Primary IDE Controller and Secondary IDE Controller again and install the drivers. Restart the computer again while the installation is completed. In this, we can get back our CD/DVD-ROM Drives.

The other way is by editing the registry to return the missed CD/DVD-ROM drives (Code 39 error.). Obviously, it is too risky to edit the registry if you are not familiar with it. To fix the error from the registry, carry out the following steps:
Exit and close all applications currently running on your PC.
Step1. Click Start > Run and type in Regedit, press Enter.
Step2. Look for the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Delete any of the following registry entries under this key directory:
LowerFilters
LowerFilters.bak
UpperFilters
UpperFilters.bak
Step3. Reboot your PC and open My Computer to check that the CD-ROM drive is visible.
Also, have a look at the Device Manager to see if the yellow exclamation mark and the error code 39 are gone.

System errors are not welcome guests that bring up unhappy computing experience. Registry Easy (www.registryeasy.com) is a professional troubleshooting system maintenance tool that can help you to solve this error and many more.

Cd rom problem

If this is a problem that just occurred and until now it has worked, my first step would be to check that the hardware, (the CD drive) is still functioning and that the software, (the drivers) are still installed and not corrupted. First go to the start button, then control panel, then performance and maintainance,go to system, and then hardware. Look for DVD/CD ROM drives, if you have more than one CD or DVD drive, point and left click on the plus symbol to the left of DVD/CD ROM Drives. Point and left click on the drive in question to highlight it then go to action, scroll down to properties and left click. This window should say that the device is working properly and also at the bottom of this window, under device usage it sould say "use this device, enable". If all of this seems to be working so far, the drive itself should be good.If there have been error messages, there is an option on the last window that opened to troubleshoot. Use it. If so far, everything looks good, now check that the drivers are good. Follow all of the above steps up until you open the device manager and point to the drive in question, go to action. This time scroll down to update driver and left click. A window will open that says " welcome to the hardware update wizard". Point and highlight the circle that says" no,not this time" regarding connecting to the internet to search for a driver. If this device has been working, the driver should still be on your hard drive. Follow the wizard prompts. If at the end of the wizard you are informed that a better match could not be found, then most likely the drivers are still good for this device. If after checking both the hardware and the software, you saw no errors and everything looked as though it were operating, the problem may be more than you can solve without some repair expertise.

Problem loading win XP-SP2

Don;t know if this is the cause of u're errors, but it might be do to the motherboard chipset drivers (the lack of them in u're windows version). If so, u have to make a copy of u're windows cd with all u're motherboard drivers included, and try to install with that cd. The same problem appears to all new laptops that do not offer XP support and only Vista support . In order to do the new XP cd, u\ll need a little program that u'l find on internet..... (for example: n-lite)

CD / DVD player not listed as device on Windows Explorer

Try physically removing the player and fire up the laptop. Power down the laptop, replace the player and power back up. If that doesn't help, see if BIOS recognizes it.
If that doesn't work, get back to me.
