The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

There are also plenty of photo catalog software packages out there, some free, some not, that can transfer and catalog your pictures so you can quickly find pictures from Susie's birthday party, for example. Just do a google search for "photo catalog software".

I recently bought the vivitar 7024 and bought an sd card lexar multi use 4 gb. For some reason when I take photos and try to look at the pics it says no file exist. But when I take the sd card out and I...

Apparently, you have pics on the camera's internal memory. Your card won't work until those pics are gone. Here's how...with no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, insert your card and it should work.

I bought a used Vivitar vivicam 8025 camer off ebay, it didnt come with software, the owner told me i could download it.. is that true? and if so where?

You can get manuals, software (Vivitar Experience) and info from THIS LINK You will need to select "digital cameras" in the first box and your model in the second.

You don't really need software to get the pics onto your computer. There are two ways to do it: connect with a USB lead or take the memory card out of the camera and read it with a card reader attached to the computer.

Using a USB lead, you shouldn't need a driver or other software. The computer can recognise the camera memory as a removable drive without actually recognising the camera as a camera. Try looking in "My Computer" for an extra drive (Under "Devices with Removable Storage") and opening that. There should be directories with picture files in them that you can drag to your desktop.

Many people find it more convenient to just take the memory card out of the camera and put it in a card reader, especially now that these readers are built into computers and printers. The card then appears in "My Computer" as a removable drive and you can just drag and drop the pictures onto your laptop. You can't get the pics from the camera's internal memory that way though.

If the camera uses a memory card, you just need to get a memory card reader. You plug the card in one end and the other into a USB port on your computer to download pics.

My son got a vivitar 8025 and it wont take pictures it keeps telling us the card is protected. What does this mean and how do we fix it?

did you put an sd memory card into it? this camera will not take pics without an sd memory card (it did not come with any memory to hold pics on the camera itself). the memory card needs to be inserted into the slot right next to the battery:)

4100 vivitar has pics and sd card, will not load pics on pc.

Battery Drain is probably the problem
Best bet?
But a Card reader.
And if you have camera software loaded -unload it
Windows does it better.

I had the same problem. If your printer has a slot for the memory card you can transfer them that way. That's how I have to do it.
