I found the following evaluation of the sound quality for the Vizio D television from the Rtings.com web site:

So, you probably didn't make any errors in setting the TV up and may need to purchase a sound bar or speakers. We have an older model Vizio TV and found the sound quality is improved with added speakers. Our speakers can work as a sound bar or 2 speaker units on each side of the TV.

check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. The display screen is gone out.

On the back of the tv and the cable box should be red, white and yellow rca jack, the white and yellow are sound

That sounds awful. It might be a manufacturer's defect. I suggest to contact the manufacturer or just get a replacement item.

As your TV is three years old, I would suggest you contact your LG dealer to arrange an engineer to call to do a software upgrade on the it. The current software will be out of date & if you are connected via the HDMI connector then this can give audio/video problems.

the problem is the audio amp board has been fried. It needs to be replaced. This will restore the actual sound transfer to and from the speakers.

The TV just probably has crappy speakers, I'd suggest hooking it up to a better speaker system.
