Question about Dell Latitude D800 Notebook

I installed a memore upgrade in my Dell D800

I installed a memory upgrade in my Dell D800 laptop but it won't recognize it. It just flashes for a minute and shuts off.

Its DDR 333MHz PC2700. But it was sold as compatible memory for this system. Was I mislead? Do I need to try and exchange it? Or is this really compatible?

May be there is a conflict or mismatch with the newly purchased mem.

Some model support pc 2700 but the default configuration from the manufacturer is pc 2100.

There is a conflicting problem with the existing memory pc 2100 and your newly purchased pc 2700

I will advice to use both with same frequency...

When the caps lock light flashes, it means there's a problem with the memory. Try re-seating the memory by taking it out and putting it back in.

Hi, Dell D800 won't start up.

Can you F7 or F8 or whatever your system uses to get into the bios setup screen? If you can accesss that, you can install an operating system. If not, you have an issue. Put an operating system CD in to see if it is recognized for starters.

Upgrading ram on laptop, new ram not recognized.

remove the bios battery for a few seconds...and place it back on ...this will make it see the new ram memory modules...if you are sure they are compatible ..they will work .....in fact ..the ddr1 333 512 M is more that compatible with your system and it will work after you remove the battery ...\ my recommendation is to reinstall a clean operation system after you boot up ...and format the C partition too...this have to be done after memory changes to get the max out of them ..

Usb device not recognize

You mentioned that you uninstalled the unknown device from the Device manager. If you uninstall it then connected your usb flash drive you will see an error again on your device manager. This means that the driver for your usb port is not properly installed.

To install it, visit dell website, look for the model of your machine and locate the driver, download it then install from your machine.

what do the Lock Lights indicate (Flashing , ON, ON perchance) it appears that the CPU is either not compatible or bad. Have you tried the original porcessor?

Verify on the label of the the memory Dimm that you installed that it is PC2700 SDRAM.
