Have you opened the front of the serger to see if there is a threading guide.

Basically:

Lift the thread antenna to it's highest position.

Lift the presser foot and set the tensions to zero.

Turn the handwheel so the loopers are at their highest point.

Begin with the upper looper (first thread cone on the right/ end of looper is pointing toward the presser foot). .

Second spool is for the lower looper (end of looper is pointing away from the presser foot).

Third spool, right needle; fourth spool, left needle.

Be careful that the threads do not cross during the threading of the loopers.Follow all the guides, taking the thread under the presser foot and to the left side of the serger.

Set the tensions back to 3 - 6 and lower the presser foot. Sew a few inches and if the threads knit into a chain, you can then do a test sew with fabric.

Simplicity's Simply The Best Sewing Book has good information with regard to using a serger that you may find beneficial.

I dont know how to thread it, the hobbylock796 serger

Pfaff has the manual for the Hobbylock 796 on their site, http://www.pfaff.com/Support-and-Updates/Support . Use the drop-down menu to find the Hobbylock. The current link to the manual is http://www.pfaff.com/SiteMedia/PFAFF/Products/Machines/Support-manuals/Hobbylock_794_796-manual-EN.PDF . See pages 7 - 11 for the threading diagrams for a 4-thread double overedge seam. See page 17 for the changes needed for a 3-thread seam. One of the generic threading videos for sergers may help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrqHC2CNjVI . There's also one for the Pfaff Hobbylock 786: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOZ-djsXdhQ .

I hope these help.

I have a white speedy lock serger model 7340. I completely pulled all threads out and now trying to re-thread new thread. I have tried around 15 times. It will not loop. Threads don't interlock at all

Be sure that you are threading each thread in the correct order. The manual should have those instructions.

ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the machine!!!! For most machines, the upper looper is threaded first, the lower looper second (the lower looper thread finishes by draping OVER the top of the upper looper and then pulled toward the back of the machine), then thread the needles. Give each thread an extra little tug when threading the tension disk to make sure it is seated completely.

Even if you are unable to locate a tutorial for your particular machine, most models from the same era will thread the same.

Don't be surprised if it doesn't work the first, second, or even the third try. It took me most of a day to get mine threaded correctly the first time!!! Patience!

How to threaded machine 14U32A serger?

Here's a manual to download:

Singer 14U32A Product Manual

With sergers, it is very important that each of the threads be threaded in the order specified or the serger will never work. Usually, the upper looper is threaded first, the lower looper next, etc., but it depends on your particular machine. Do not miss any steps and make sure that each thread is snugged down in the tension disk. If one thread breaks, make sure that you unthread EVERYTHING and start over from the beginning. Very seldom are you able to rethread only the broken thread and be successful.

The serger will not form the initial chain. Have checked threading and have new needles, any ideas?

It's an odd thing but on my serger, it actually matters the order in which I thread it. I *try* to tie the new thread to the old and pull it through rather than re-threading, but when I've had to re-thread, I've had trouble getting it to loop again when I thread left to right. It seems that the loopers only loop if the right looper is threaded before the left.

No chain forming on 1034d

You may have re-threaded in the wrong order. The correct order is upper looper, lower looper, right needle, left needle. So 3,4,2,1 (if numbering left to right)

Lower looper problems

Some sergers require they be threaded in a particular order. If not, they do not "knit" the threads.

Raise the thread antenna to it's highest position.

Open the tensions (set at zero). If the tension settings are automatic, raise the presser foot to open the tension settings.

Turn the handwheel so the loopers are at their highest position. There may be a mark on the side of the serger to match up with a mark on the hand wheel for this.

Open the front of the serger and the threading guide should be printed on the inside of the serger door, or on the serger.

Start at the right and note which looper is threaded first and then the needles.

You can find more information and manuals at the Singer Co website.
