Does you Tv set have optical out? If so might I suggest running HDMI into your television set from the PS3, then run an optical audio line out from the tv into the optical line in on your HTIB

I have a Panasonic SA-PT670 with an XBox 360 connected to it. This is how I configured my system for full 5.1 audio. I'm running an HDMI cable from the XBox to to the TV. I'm running another HDMI cable from the reciever to the TV. I am also running a digital audio cable from the recieve to the TV to handle strictly audio while the HDMI handles the video from the DVD/Reciever to the TV. On the reciever I configured the Surround option to "Manual --

On the reciever I configured the Surround option to "Manual --> S SRND". I have the sound configured for "Heavy" and Bass at level 3. Go into the DVD Sound settings and configure the center channel and rear speakers to your liking. I get full surround sound on all 5 speakers plus plenty of bass when playing the Xbox, watching a DVD. Full surround sound on cable TV is hit or miss, it really depends on the channel, some support it others don't. Hope this helps.

I moved and cannot find manuel for sa-dx940 need instruction on how to reconnet wire to t.v. and speaker

The Technics SA-DX940 is made by Panasonic. The manua as a PDF is available here: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/SADX940.PDF . The directions for connecting the speakers start on page 14. The connection to the TV is on page 10. To use the SA-DX940 as just external speakers for your TV, connect either the digital audio out from the TV (if it has one) or the RCA audio out from the TV to the matching TV audio in on the SA-DX940.

I hope this helps.

Replacing Panasonic SA-HT500 with Newer Model that has HDMI Input

ANY amp will be ok, as long as the wattage of your new amp does not exceed the wattage of your speakers. Otherwise you could overdrive your speakers and damage them. First clue, if you turn up the volume and the speakers start to shut off and on you are pushing too much power to them.

I have a panasonic sa-ht75 surround sound system, the sound comes through when watching a dvd, but when the tv is on the sound still comes through the tv speakers.

You have probably solved this problem now, but incase you havnt, we had the same problem, the wrong lead came with ours, you need to plug the red and white into the audio out, and this should solve the problem, hope this helps

Hooking up a sony playstation 3 with digital optical cable

Here's one solution, if you have an audio output from your tv, you can go from the audio output on your tv to the audio input on your receiver that way anything that is playing on your tv for example, playstation 3, dvd player etc. Anything playing on your tv will have audio on your onkyo home theater system. The other thing I would try if you want to hook ps3 directly to receiver is go to your connection settings on your ps3 menu and change your connection method to digital optical cable.
