Check for air restrictions which cause the heat control to shut down faster than normal. When the moisture cannot be removed fast enough the heat builds up and has nowhere to go so the heat control stays off longer and the clothes just tumble on.
If your dryer IS still heating, but your clothes still won't dry, you may want to check the dryer interior cabinet and/or the entire exhaust ducting from where it exits your dryer to the point where it leaves your home to ensure you have no kinks or clogs. The following link explains many of the problems that can cause poor drying efficiency and longer dry times:
Before assuming you have a problem with the appliance, check your installation to ensure you are providing the dryer with proper exhaust and air flow. A dryer in a clogged state or having improper air flow will not dry efficiently and will cause the heating circuits to actually overheat. Eventually, this can lead to component failures and is the source of many fire hazards. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.
If you are experiencing longer dry times and/or poor drying efficiency, the following link can give you some tihings to check before assuming there is a malfunction with your dryer:
The number one cause of dryer heat related problems is poor exhaust ventilation. If not vented properly, a dryer will not dry efficiently, will take longer than required to dry, and will cause the heating circuits to overheat to the point of failure. The dryer will actually seem hotter as the heating circuits begin to overheat. This is also the source of many fire hazards if not resolved. Read through the link provided and review some of the potential causes. Hopefully, this may save you a service call.
If you check everything and still have poor heating issues, please let me know. You may have an internal bias or hi-limit thermostat malfunctioning.
I am assuming that your talking about how much energy your using. When the unit runs on full heat, your electric meter will spin as you say like a top, this is quite normal. Electric dryers use tremendous amount of energy. Going on fluff your using just the normal 120v and not pulling many amps to run the dryer. However with the unit on high your pulling more amps and are now drawing 240v to operate your unit. If your clothes are drying than it is not the heating unit.
If your concern is the amount of energy expended, there is always the old clothes line, which is energy efficient and if you live in a part of the world where the air is clean your clothes will smell fresher than if it came from a dryer.
john there is only one heating element.ither it works or it dosent.when acustomer complains of low heat or long dry times 99out of100 its the venting or the dryer is blocked with lint.remove the dryer from the venting and try a load.if better clean house venting.you .........if not better you should have a great air flow leaving the dryer so if not drying well with venting off.take dryer apart a clean all araes that air is moving, where lint can block that flow.god bless .tom
Make sure u have seleced the high heat setting..The fact that it is heating more or less indicates that the element is o/k.
Check and clean any filter(s) that u can see,it is more likely to be a thermostat problem than anything else. and there are at least 2 of them, also check line voltage is correct.
Plz rate this solution.
thanks.
most driers are now smaller in overall size and have ratings as to their capacity
many are more energy efficient , drying quicker than the older models
check the spares availability at an authorized repair agent spares for a new drum as fixing it would be the last option
