I don't really know how to use it. It was a gift from my daughter after my hard drive crashed.

Well, it's very easy for you to use a web camera. First you have to decide how do you want to use it.. means you can use it for video chatting through Paltalk, Yahoo messenger, MSN messenger, Skype etc. For video chat you will need to install it in your PC.

To install first connect the web cam with PC. Insert the installation CD in CD/DVD-ROM, run Setup.exe and install it. Once setup is successfully completed you may need to restart the PC.

Now open and sign in your chat client (MSN messenger, Yahoo messenger, Gtalk messenger, AOL etc.) For example: If you want to start share your web cam in Yahoo messenger, just Login with your ID and password....click on Messenger choose option My Webcam. One warning message will appear...click OK....your webcam will start....Now if you want to invite someone to view your webcam, simply click on his/her ID and open IM window....click on Actions, choose More Actions from down of the list....and click on Invite to view my webcam....if he/she accepts your invitation...he/she will able to see you....again if you want to see someone who having Webcam....open the IM window by clicking his/her ID.... follow option Actions > More Actions and click on View webcam....yahoo will send the request to him/her...if he/she accept your request....you will able to see him/her....

For MSN messenger....sign in to your messenger and click on Actions and from list choose option Video and click on Show my webcam to view your webcam to others from your contact list.....or click on Start a video call to start video chat.....

To see others webcam click on View a contact's webcam....if the person accept your webcam....you will able to see his/her webcam....

Same to other chat client too...just little different in options....

I think you can get it easily...

In im i cant invite to see my cam why

Probably because you are in a different program to your contact
Cross chatting does not support webcams
If you are in Yahoo Messenger for example and your contact is in Yahoo Mail or Yahoo webmessenger or MSN the webcam feature is not available the option may be greyed out or missing.
You both have to be in Yahoo Messenger or MSN

I have my webcam hooked up. Now how do I connect

This is by far the simplest system for the beginner. If you already have an Instant Messenger program such as Yahoo, MSN, Skype, Netmeeting, or AOL, for example, then all you need to do is setup your webcam and activate it inside your Messenger. Check either your Messenger program's help menu or their web site for detailed instructions. This option works well, but usually gives the poorest picture quality and is reliant on your Messenger host keeping the service available and running smoothly. It also requires anyone who wants to see your camera to have the same service. If you don't have a chat (or IM 'Instant Messenger') program, download one and install it from your favorite service. Both parties or multiple parties will need to have the same software running to broadcast and receive the video from the webcam. It is kind of like a walkie talkie. There may be plenty around, but for people to "connect" to each other, they need to be on the same frequency to communicate. Think of it as the webcam is the walkie talkie and the software (AOL, Skype, etc.) is the frequency allowing the connection between the parties. Also, certain websites will have their own software for you to broadcast on their server for you and other members to view. I hope this helps and good luck.

My Microsoft LifeCam Wont detect on MSN!

Once you have your webcam working outside of MSN you can then proceed to configure it to the MSN software

Its good practice to disconnect / re-connect the camera to the USB port before you start. Sometimes the camera remains hooked up to a previous program and the MSN software cannot find it.

Connect webcam
Open MSN - Windows Live Messenger
Click ( > ) Open Menu > Tools > Audio & video set-up - run through Audio > Next - set your camera default - assess webcam quality and use the Webcam Settings to make any refinements > Finish

Can't get my HP Webcam to work

The webcam is apparently installed fine. You now need some way to contact the people you want to cam with. This is where the messenger part comes in. You will need one to contact people and talk to them with. Some suggestions are Yahoo, aol, or msn messenger to name a few. Yahoo is easy to use, works across most messenger platforms and will automatically install the webcam for you to use. Then all you will need is thier Im(internet messenger) name to contact them. Hope this helps you.
