If these are new cartridges then you can try wiping the contacts and the pins with a dry paper towel then re install them. do not us tissue as some of them have lotion on them. If these are remanufactured cartridges return them for an exchange.

Please try follow these steps to resolve your issue:
Are you using OEM, compatible or refilled ink cartridges? Refilled ink cartridges have a high defective rate, and they
may also damage your printer, so it is best to use high-quality print
cartridges. OEM and certain brands of compatible print cartridges (such as MSE

are the best choices.

There may be debris that is blocking the communication between the cartridge and the printer, especially if you are using a remanufactured cartridge. Remove the cartridge and unplug the printer from the power supply. Take a little bit of rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab and wipe off the contacts on the cartridge as well as the contacts inside of the printer. Allow both to dry for a few minutes before plugging the printer back in and re-installing the cartridge. This should clear up any miscommunication between the two.

There are several things you can try. Make sure you are using HP original cartridges (not refilled/remanufactured).
Remove the cartridges and reinsert them.
Clean the contacts on the cartridges (remove one cartridge (unplug the unit after the cartridge carrier stops moving), wipe it with lint free clothes or cotton swabs that were dampened (squeeze or wring out excess water) with bottled or distilled water. Wipe the copper colored contacts until they are ink free. Avoid the nozzles. Allow to dry for 10 minutes or dry with another cloth. Then reinstall the cartridge (make sure it clicks into place) and repeat with the other cartridge. Work quickly, after 30 minutes you have an increased risk of the ink drying and clogging the nozzles. Plug in the printer and see if you can print.
Reset the printer. Turn on the printer, then unplug the power cord from the wall. Remove the other end of the cord from the printer. Wait 20 seconds before plugging in the power cord (wall outlet first). Turn on the printer and wait for it to initialize. Try printing again.
Try new cartridges and do a cartridge alignment. The problem could be with the cartridges themselves.
If the issue persists, then the printer needs service.
I hope this helps.
