I have just been given a RAZR phone as my old phone didnt like going for a swim. I have set the ring tone and I can hear it. the volume is set as high as it will go and I can hear the sound as I adjust it. I have set the ring style to vibrate and ring. when some one calls me it vibrates but doesnt ring. how do I get it to ring? thanks

if the all setting are ok??
then you have to check its ringing tones ,simply go to ringing tones under the settings and try to change the tone and you can increase the volume in this menu too.
if no ringing ton hear.
it is hardware issue.

When you make call use the left and right square key for increasing or decreasing volume.

first of all u can increase volume during call by pressing right button (middle one). but i think ur phone is set to max and u dont hear much - in this case probably some "metal dust" sticks on your speakers membrane - open case clean speaker gently or replace with new one...

A couple of things could b set wrong. First, make sure you're volume is turned up. Flip phone open and push the top button on left to raise the volume. Second, open phone, go to menu, cursor to settings, sounds, call ringtone, single tone. Now cursor down thru the selections to pick a ringtone. Make sure the "no ring" selection is not selected. (The current selection will have a check mark on the right side.) Select the tone you want and push the center button to save it. You can then select all your other ring tones, such as message alerts the same way.

Try going to the settings of the phone and adjust the Ringer Volume, sometimes you can do this by pressing the button on the side of your device, other times you have to go within the settings of the phone to adjust the volume.

You can set the length of your incoming ring to in the Call forwarding portion of the phone. Usually, it is set to 25 seconds. It can go as high as 30 seconds. To set the ringer to be longer or shorter, it goes by 5,10,15,... set of 5 increments. up to 30.
I would also recommend to use a factory set ringtone, set the profile to LOUD or OUTDOORS. With vibrate option on. Some downloaded ringtones don't play as loud.

try going to settings, audio, then change the "Style". Also check the detail of it to make sure it is set for the volume and ringtone you want.

There are many reasons for this to occur, first select a profile and set the ringer to an audible tone and adjust the volume to a lever you can hear clearly. To do this first try pressing the silver button on the left side when the main screen is facing you(Open phone) and if you look closely you'll notice one button on the side has a top and a bottom half the top increases the volume and the bottom decreases the volume. If the volume it up all the way and you still hear nothing then press the menu button and go to settings, followed by going to sounds and select the profile "normal" and adjust as necessary to make your ringer alert you, if the tone is not heard try a different one, if all else fails remove the battery and leave it out for two minutes, then put it back in and turn your phone back on. This sometimes is necessay to make a newer phone clear a "bug" as newer phones are much like MS Windows and require a re-boot from time to time. I hope this helps...
