How do i install my ati x 1900 video card on my mac pro. i get an error message "The power cable for your graphics card is not properly connected" To connect the cable, turn off your computer. Then plug one end of the power cable into the connector on the logic board and the other end into the card."
That card needs extra power - more than it can get thru the PCI-E socket - so do exactly what it's said : connect an extra power cable from the power source to the card.
You need to buy it -http://shop.ati.com/product.asp?sku=3280...
Or you can use a regular molex splitter that you can find in any computer store, connect it to the spare molex from the superdrive power cable, and then use the molex-to-pcie power cable that comes with the card.
It can be plugged in only the correct way at both plugs so don't force it.
And you gave me a low rating because...
If you prefer the Apple way instead the recommended by ATI way don't come here in a few months complaining that the 150 watts needed to power the X1900 burned your motherboard.

i need to know where to plug in that 6 pin PCIe aux. power cable to though...i have no idea what it looks like or where it is on my Mac Pro.
there is no need to buy any additional cables. it cam with a 6 pin AUX cable and that plugs directly in the Mac's logic board. the connection is what i had issues finding on the logic board, but it is located (if looking in at the logic board) on the top left. easy, simple no need for Molex splitters, or extra cables. plugged in, started up and works like a charm.
low rating was because your solution was incorrect. there is no need to buy a Molex splitter or additional cables. your solution would make things a 1000 times more difficult then it needs to be...sorry man.
