Non-cooling Our 38AKS016/40RM016 split system is cooling a 24' X 60' room which has 4 open doorways to three other areas (cooled by different units). The room has ~30 PC's and 2 printers which are on continually. Sometimes when the outside temperature is below 30F, the system gets in a mode where the air mover runs, but the compressor does not. The room will equilibriate about 8 degrees above the temperature set point (71F) and the compressor will not come on until it warms up outside (or the system is recycled). Any ideas?

- Calibrate your electronic thermostat if it is accurate. If not then replacement is needed.
- Check the location of your electronic thermostat, it may be installed in the room where its too cold.

If your electronic thermostat is located in the room of indoor unit then the actual temperature of the room where your air out supply cannot be sense by your electronic thermostat. The sensor of your electronic thermostat is inside the electronic thermostat itself. So you need to install that in the room that you are cooling.
To check if the unit have adequate refrigerant charge, check the suction pipe of your outdoor (the big pipe) if sweating or if you have the thermometer check the temp. of the pipe it should be from 50 to 60 deg. F. If it is higher than this or if the suction is dry you need to add refrigerant.

What is the difference between a ducted and non ducted Domestic Air Conditioner?

Ducted A/C has an internal fancoil unit installed in the roof space of the home. From this central location, a series of ducts run from it and into as many rooms in the house as the owner desires. From these ducts, this allows you to cool or heat each room individually – called zoning
Split systems stand out for their relatively low initial purchase price. Another perk is that the installation is not so invasive – it can often be done in a day or less from a licensed technician. Though, being that the unit is fairly small, it is best suited to cooling or heating one room – this is either a positive or negative depending on how you look at it. On one hand, it’s an efficient option if you only need to cool or heat one room, but on the other hand they are less effective in larger spaces. Rarely could a split system air conditioner cool or heat an entire home. Split system air cons are great options for small areas, but lack the power to affect larger spaces – this is reflected in their relatively cheap purchase price, from around $1,000-$2,000.

split air cons come in both configurations and are mostly in the last few years with inverter systems

I have a blizard split model 10.5 years old in a caravan. model sa101 the air feels cooler but seems to have no noticable difference in actual temperture and compressor seems to run continuously ...

Please understand first, air conditioning system not only cooling the area but also removing the heat. If heat in the room stays constantly, even 24 hrs running a/c couldn't cool the room.
Now, why the a/c could not cool the room or remove the heat from the room.
Check air filter, evaporator coil and blower wheel for clean. If not service the unit immediately. And also check indoor fan motor rpm. If rpm is low, replace fan capacitor. Check for gas pressure to confirm no leak or running with short of gas. It's advisable to service both indoor and out door once in 6 months at least. Otherwise, your electric bill will kill you lot. Thanks.

Cool air outlets frozen over with ice

And the temperature hasn't changed at all (still set at 55ºF)? A troubleshooting guide says you can check if the cause is because too much heat was lost to adjacent areas, and you can try to add more insulation around the ductwork and ensure doorways and glass panels are sealed. Other than that... not sure. If it's older, maybe you can look into a new Whisperkool split system or cooling system (there's some great ones on http://www.vintagecellars.com).

Lg split indoor fan runs non stop

Hello Hamid,
The unit is designed to run the indoor fanmotors continuously when in cooling mode on both indoor units (evaporators). The reason is that this circulates the air and the temperature thermistor or sensor is able to sense return air temperature and in turn start or stop the outdoor unit and compressor as required according to the setpoint temperature. The reason for either unit not reaching setpoint temperature can be a couple of reasons. A) Incorrect design - the unit may be too small for the application. You can calculate this roughly at 650BTU per square meter of room in a relatively warm ambient climate. Or secondly B) The outdoor unit has leaked and is short of refrigerant. You can check this when the outdoor unit is running by feeling the thicker copper tube on the right hand side of the unit. This should be cool to cold. If no temperature difference is felt, it is short of refrigerant. Hope this helps you. Goodbye
