usually when a front load washer starts making noise in the spin cycle it's not good, most of the time it's from the owner using to much detergent,it eats the spider gear and then it's time for a new washer, the gear costs around 500 bucks, next it will start to bang around and get real loud,i've seen the rubber boot get ripped off because it bangs all around,if you're using alot of detergent most likely this is the start of your problem, when you read the back of the bottle the measurements are for a top load washer not a front load so you better check that, also you could have a broken shock, also you can pull the middle of the pump out and check to see if there are any filings in there,i've seen that before.put it on high spin and listen to it,if it sounds like a knocking sound don't waste your money and call someone in,change out the washer and watch the cd that comes with it and use less detergent,i hope this isn't your problem but when the noise comes from the spin cycle it's usually the spider gear.
Open the cabinet top and check along the sides for a broken or out-of-position damper. Shake the mechanism in several directions to help locate. Hope this helps!
Hello,Most likely this will be the drum bearings. Bearings normally last
quite a long time but some will fail sooner than others. Quite often
bearing failure is due to a faulty drum shaft seal which allows a small
amount of water through and in to the bearings. The bearings then start
to rust, which then accelerates the wear on the bearings. Thanks
Having same problem with my Kenmore 500. Tomorrow will be the second time a repair man has visited the house. Washer on 5 weeks old. Drum bangs every other load. Load not unbalanced. Avoid this washer, it is a POS.
If you spin the drum by hand, does it make any kind of thumping or banging noise? If it does, then you probally have a broken spider arm(s). This is very expensive to repair, unless you are handy, it may not be worth fixing. The link below shows the problem and how it can be fixed. http://www.jimwilliamson.net/misc/2006-08-28-front-load-washer/index.html
