Why is my Kicker 08zx650.4 amp turning off in my 98 Deville??

Why is my Kicker 08zx650.4 amp getting ''super'' hot and shutting off? I had it professionally installed with a Pioneer P5100, 2 s12L5 subs in a vented enclosure(subs purchased with box included), a Soundquest 2 fared capacitor, a 1200 watt amp kit(4 gauge power+ground wire and 8 gauge speaker wire and the amp. I have the amp in my trunk between the sub box and the back of the trunk! it is pretty much sealed off in a 2'x2'x4' area. Please help me. I thought this amp had protection from overheating and overloading?

Ive been hearing alot of this going on yes you had youre system proffesionaly installed but youre amp is pushing at all its got it must be pushing at 1ohms capacity loud but what you dont realize is that.. do ur home work first some amps say they can handle the power but if you read carefully it would read not stable look up amp on the net before buyin review them first ...but evrything youve got is correct its youre amp it wont burn out but you wont get continous power to ur spkrs ..i recomend installing one amp on each spkr same brand if you prefer in keeping it with a crossover if you dont have one that way they wont over heat and cutt off and you will use less power and get more bass...

Amp gets hot and shuts down

Time for a bigger amp or better wiring to the amp. You can try a cooling fan setup to cool the amp. Brushless computer fans work pretty good, draw very little current and move quite a bit of air and they're really cheap to buy.

Kicker SX900.2 turns on then says overload and shuts off

Sounds like one or more of the output transistors have gone and the amp protects itself from any further damage.

My amp goes into protection mode when i turn on my car. It gets hot too. I had 2 kicker 12" l5's and blew the subs with that amp, could i just have a simple problem with the amp? What are all my options?

Protection LED on, no output? Amplifi er is very hot = thermal protection is engaged. Test for proper
impedance at the speaker terminals with a VOM meter (see the diagrams in this manual for minimum
recommended impedance and multiple speaker wiring suggestions). Also check for adequate airfl ow around
the amplifi er. Amplifi er shuts down only while vehicle is running = voltage protection circuitry is engaged.
Voltage to the amplifi er is not within the 10–16 volt operating range. Have the vehicle’s charging and electrical
system inspected. Amplifi er will only play at low volume levels = short circuit protection is engaged. Check
for speaker wires shorted to each other or to the vehicle chassis. Check for damaged speakers or speaker(s)
operating below the minimum recommended impedance.
No or low output? Check the balance control on source unit Check the RCA (or speaker input) and
speaker output connections.

Cut out

rewire the subs-each sub you want in series=8 ohms per sub-then at the amp wire the two 8 ohm subs in parallel which brings the ohms back down to 4 ohms which is optimal for the amp and it shouldnt shut down on you any more-try that-good luck

My Amp Keeps shutting off

You need to get an amp with higher wattage. Obviously, your amp cannot handle those two 10" monsters. hehe Nice Subs though :D

Kicker amp shutting off

hello my friend you should have the input signal set to 500 miliamps do not go over, another thing is that if you have good ground and the battery is good and it has the sufficient amps to push it.also the ohms of your spkrs are not too low,you need to check all that.

good luck
