ADF jam Copies fine from glass but if you place an original on the adf and push start it immediately says adf jam without even starting the feed motor. Ken

ADF cover refers to the Automatic Document Feeder cover. The ADF feeds your originals to the copy glass. The cover is opened to remove a jammed original. Just make sure the cover is closed.

The cover plate is above the glass white surface of the scanner. If this is the same dirty stains will come out on copies.
The glass must be clean.
By feeding the original documents through the ADF, the scanner lamp is no longer the path to scan, the ADF is responsible for passing the original document over the scanner, while it remains still placed on the side under a thin glass is to a large glass side. This also must be clean, otherwise you will be black lines on each point or spot on the glass.

Set the ADF.

Adf stands for automatic document feeder. It feeds the your original onto the scanning glass.

"Normally" that is a simple problem. If it copies clean when you lay your original on the glass......but when using the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) the copy has a black line then it is clearly something in the ADF scanner. Some machines use a strip of glass that is next to the large glass to scan originals when using the ADF. That strip of glass has to be clean top and bottom. Some models use a scanner in the actual ADF. Either way if it copies fine from the glass, the rest of the copier is eliminated from being the cause.
Is your machine under maintenence contract? Then I would keep calling them until they FIX it!

There are two scan modes when copies are made.When you make copies through ADF you originals go past small **** glass located to the left of the main exposure glass.Any small mark on this **** glass( correction fluid mark,ink mark,small scratch,dust particle and so on)will show as a line on your copy.So to get rid of these vertical lines on your copies you need to clean this small exposure glass.

Follows to pay attention to condition original. Can rumpling paper or very fine. It is Important presence of the preventive maintenance ADF to clean the tray and rubber rollers, it is important to take into account the wear-out of a parts of the feeder. Possible, there was seizure immediately several sheets. Do the preventive maintenance ADF wipe the facility for peelings of the rubber, take away dust. All must work if rubber grosses not worn-out.

If you have an ADF, please put the 35 originals in the ADF and just press the Start button.
You will have 35 copies in the output tray.
If you don't have an ADF, please put one original on the platen glass, close the platen cover and press the start button.
Then replace the original by the 2nd one and continue the rest of the procedure and do also for the remaining originals.

There could be somthing in you ADF that is keeping the copy from going in properly. Your tires could need cleaning or there could be something going on with a component in the ADF.

Sould have a technician inspect the ADF to see if it needs cleaning or parts.
