Sounds like your videocard is over heating, check to make shure the fan is spining and free of dust ,allso could be loose heatsink ,to cheak and see if the video card unplug monitor from computer (the vga plug) trun on computer for a min, orso then plug in monitor, heres the hard part some body has to watch the the monitor to see what happens if you see pinstrips most likely videocard. u could allso check to see if monitor works on another computer, most computers need to be cleaned of dust at least once a year .You can buy a can co2 blow the dust out of computer ,also check the back of lcd there are slots in the back of it ,dust can get in there too. allso would help to know what computer you have dell, hp etc. lots of things can cause the problem you are haveing the setting in windows, the refresh rate could be to high, wrong driver ETC,

This is an old post but maybe it will help others. You will have to take the back off of the TV. On the bottom you will see ribbon cables coming from the screen and connecting to 3 PC boards. Take the screws out that holds the cable down. Underneath you will see 4 resistors marked 100. All you have to do is re-solder the resistors and your vertical line will be gone. You need to be good at soldering or you could damage the ribbon. The only ones that you have to re-solder is the ones in line with the lines on the screen.
That's pretty easy; not much is wrong. You have a backlight with several sections to it, and one section has gone dark on you; once you carefully take the monitor apart (on old towels, perhaps) and find the backlight circuits and LEDs or compact fluorescents, clean the dust out and retry; if the dark bit persists, you get to repair the supply power (or replace the lamp) for the center bit. Usually it's an edge-lit light pipe (rigid or woven) that lights your 'stripe.' If you search on the ODM model number you find once you open the thing up (i.e. on the guts) you might get a hint as to how the supply is set up and save some disassembly/reassembly steps or simply find a replacement balanced light-strip or LED equivalent to swap in. Otherwise test the larger capacitors in service in the backlight power section for warmth through a vinyl glove (having also taken other electrical service safety reviews of your bench, in 3 or more passes, with a friend around, so you don't casually spoil the mostly-working monitor or vital organ.) You could use AC probes to find a leaky cap too. (Probably something 3cm cubed with 6 to 8 like neighbors, natch; though it could be that an upstream component is bad and the center circuit merely the victim among the supplied circuits.)
Hi Detrix,
Check with www.lcdrepair.net if you want a repair. Something is wrong with your LCD controller and or GUI interface circuit or the circuit supplying power to it. If your technically endowed, you may want to open the monitor case and clean the dust and lint from around the circuits using a Small paint brush to sweep away any built up dust. These circuits take the Signal from the computer and controls the 2.5 million pixels on the LCD screen. Dsut can cause major problems with handling all that data. Give it a shot, what do you have to loose, its not dangerous if the monitor is unplugged.
