1. Mid to late 90's problems on Carrier coils leaking. 2. Problem with lication of TXV's on air handlers. When welded in they were located to close to the fitting where the suction lines were welded in to unit. The heat would cause them to fail.

That may not be a problem. What's your outdoor air temp entering your condensing coil, the wet bulb temperature of the air entering your return, and the temp of the the copper line set?

I have an 18000BTU unit that has an LED that flashes 5 times and then stops, could you pls advize as to the error code of the LED flashes.

You haven't mentioned the brand name. As the error code changes brand to brand I give some solutions. Check with your unit.
e-5 Outdoor activation of compressor over heat protection-Clean condenser coil and check out door f.motor speed. If less replace capacitor.
e-5. Blower motor lock Rotate manually. If hard to rotate, replace bearings or motor. If easy to rotate, replace capacitor.
Please mention brand name and other full details to get solution quickly. Thanks.

Do i need to install a jet expansion valve for the Carrier Model 40GKX casette type aircon unit? I was asking because the temperature of the room is not getting the temperature i wanted.

Before you buy, you have to calculate the heat load of your room and as well as the temp to be maintained in that room. Basing on that, there so many engineers in sales counter of every branded air conditioner to recomand you the correct model. And I hope with same expansion valve you can get required temp.
