You do have a defective LED back lights strip inside of the display panel. You need to disassembly the panel, locate the defective one & find the part number printed on it, order a new & replace it (Them). The LED is in serial connection, if one is open, the whole strip will not light up, if one is shorted, the strip will light up, but will causes over drive current to other LED & burn out more LED diodes. The newer LED TV is designed for 2-3 years life time, our suggestion is that change all of the strips, otherwise you have to do the replacement strip job very soon.
Sounds like The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
3 reasons....either could be correct... 1 - RAM card is corrupt...change RAM card...(remove the exsiting RAM card and clean and replace the same...look for them on the bottom of the notebook) 2 - OS is corrupt, need to re-install OS....if u r on WindowsXP then I have a clear solution....let me know... 3 - Screen is out...(LCD screen is out or the backlite inside the screen is out or the inverter board inside the LCD panel is out)

gues the LCD display is not working,
1 the LCD screen is out or
2 the backlite inside the LCD screen is out or
3 the invertor board behind the LCD screen inside is out.
What type of video card do you have, sounds like it could be several things at this point. I recommend checking you have the latest video card drivers, and that your video card is being kept cool, as well as the inside of your PC case.
I had the exact same issue. I bought a new tv for my family room and moved the Sceptre to a seldom used location. When I did turn the Sceptre on after a couple of months, it was good as new. The dark areas disappeared completely
If the Psp turns on and you can hear the O/s " Operating system start up, your backlite has burned out. This is a common problem with alot of handheld products and isnt so difficult to replace. You will need the tools to open and replace including a new lcd or backlite. (Ebay.com) sells backlites and lcd combo's at a reduced price. If you are under a 1 year warenty give sony a call, but dont tell them you think its the backlite, ask alot of questions and see if its covered, mabye a full replacement can be sent to you only the cost of Shipping. Give it a try and if no luck mabye I can jot down the steps to remove and replace the backlite.
Notice: The backlite may not be the problem, if you replace the backlite and it still is un-functional, then you will have to replace the lcd. The backlight is easy to replace if you take your time and isnt as cheaper to do then a whole lcd replacement.
