Answered

Cannot burn on DVD+R disc: Thoug it burnt and stated it burn successfully, but the DVD+R is still empty. My DVD burner is NEC DVD+RW ND-6650A come with my Dell Inspiron 700m. But when I use DVD-R disc, it burnt successfully with no problem. I cannot understand. Please help.

    Thanks for both of your help, but according to the spec from NEC, my NEC ND-6650A DVD writer support both DVD+/- formats. I am using nero8 DVD burning software. Any other suggestion? Thanks.

Depending on your operating system, donload a trail version of nero @ www.nero.com the site should guide you to the right software. The other option is Sonic @ www.sonic.com

your computers hard drive might be getting to hot
try blowing out all of the dust from your laptop computers keyboard using a fine air blower from an air compressor making VERY sure there is no MOISTURE in the lines.
dust causes static which causes lots of unforseen problems with a computer and its parts
also you might buy a laptop usb 3 fan cooler pad just to keep things cool/er
you might check the leads ((motherboard to hard drive)) they might be bad/faulty

My burner will not burn cd's anymore. It still plays cd's fine as well as play and burn dvd's fine. I see no errors in hardware setup. It is a nec dvd +- RW ND 6650A that came with my Dell Inspiron E1705.
The CD Burner / Player / DVD Burner are all different heads. If the Dell Inspiron E1705 is an older model it is most likely you have reached the end of it's usable life for the CD burner part. If it is new the CD burner is most likely defective and hopefully warrantied. Otherwise these CD/DVD units can be replaced relatively inexpensively (as compared to buying a new laptop).

It's time to replace the defective (and probably warranty-expired) unit.

If your computer is a notebook, not a desktop, it's best to take the computer to a qualified technician, to disassemble your computer, and replace the drive.

i ran into this problem a while ago. I had to test different dvd's. I then looked on the manufacturer's website. there they stated which dvd-r, dvd-rw would work. once i tried that brand It worked fine.

My NEC-6650A DVD RW (on Dell Inspiron 6000) won't read DVD ROM
mine does just the opposite. It will read DVD-ROM Games but it wont read data discs or DVD Movies.

well, sounds like common error promblem have you tried looking and seeing if mite have bought the wrong kind of dvd's I have done this before i bought dvd's instead of Cdrw's discs.? or try dowloading www.slysoft.com thier cd player plays and reads and rewrites almost anything .. lala linda

Ha dell inspiron is a waste dvd.. writer.
i myself have one.
it cant write at a speed more than 4x and nowadays dvds come with 16x speed..
so its always gives error when u try 2 write at low or high speed..
this whole burning process sucks..
im trying 2 find a soln..

try reducing ur speed to 4x and try
