That is because it is in protect mode. A lot of times this is because of a bad ground or the battery is not strong enough and you should give it a charge then try it again. But normally it is the ground and make sure the remote wire has a good connection.

Power light is blinking and there is no sound from amp

Ground shouldnt be getting voltage? The ground is the negative! And you should not put the negative test lead on the remote!

First off, you need a bigger fuse! Your amp has 60 amps of fusing, you need a 60-80 amp fuse in the power wire! You might have slowly internally melted the fuse to the point where it intermittently makes contact--- ive seen it happen

So, triple check your wiring, make sure the ground is bolted to BARE metal on the chassis (use sandpaper if you must).

And upgrade the fuse (in the power wire) to 80 or 100 amps.

What u think

Hello jayPRICAN,

You do not say what kind of speakers you are running on the amp and that can affect how you troubleshoot the problem.

Most often, a wiring problem such as a faulty ground or short in the speaker wires will cause such a problem. Here are the most likely causes for the amp to go into protection.

1) When a speaker wire is shorted or grounded.
2) Overheated.
3) When a ground wire of the receiver/head unit or the amp itself is not properly grounded.
4) When the amp itself malfunctions and a DC is sent to the speaker output.

First check your power, ground and remote turn-on wires. Then disconnect the inputs and speaker wires. If the amp does not power up normally with all the other wires disconnected, the amp itself is defective. If it does power up with everything else disconnected, reconnect the wires one at a time to determine where the problem is located.

Hope this helps.

What does it mean when the power light blinks on the amp?

genrally kenwood amps are power hungry amps so after playing for a while if it doesnt get the amount of amperage to make it work it will shut down cus you car cant charge the battery long enough for the use of that amp so my idea is try a farad capacitor and see if that helps good luck .......tk
