My Dell latitude d500 won't recover from standby mode (i.e. after shutting the lid).

  • Anonymous Feb 21, 2010

    Hi Daffydavid,
I wiped the harddrive clean and reinstalled windows XP pro Sp3. I did not have any driver recovery cd or anything else, so I searched the Dell site for drivers on audio, video and network adaptors. With trial-and-error I got the system back online, except for the suspend functionallity.
So, to be short: no new hardware, just an other version of Windows Xp and self-searched and installed drivers...
    Hope you can help me.
    Cheers,
    Mathieu

The little button on the laptop pushes down when you close the lid and is probably stuck down. Open the laptop and look at the area near the hinges foe a tiny gray pop up button. If it is stuck down you will need to try pulling it up with tweezers. Mine is above the power button on a D800. Here is your manual ! http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latd500/

Let me know how you make out!

Good luck Phil [email protected]

Check your power settings as your system may have gone completely into sleep mode and even powered down the drive. It takes time for these to reappear.

The D620 is right now "stuck" trying to go into standby. I have a lot of open unsaved files which would crash on a forced reboot. Also, it is constantly trying to access the hard drive at the moment. Any...

1. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds. This will shut down the PC.
2. If you disagree with this then you will have to contact Dell Tech support.
3. If you are able to go into safe mode and then close the file that are opened then shut down properly with the "shut down" button an the power up again. You should be able to restore the PC.
4. If you have any USB device connected disconnect them after shut down. In the power up sequence the ports and hard drive and the keyboard etc are checked to see if they are enabled or if something is connected this will sometime on the C620 cause it to go into a mode not wanted.

Dell latitude d500 wont charge.

If the original batteryand the system works on AC power, then replace the battery.

If the battery has been replaced, then it could be a motherboard charger failure
