The motor has a thermal protection sensor on it. So your motor may be going bad, it is pulling to many amps for some reason, could be a clog somewhere or a bad bearing in the motor.

Vac is about 1 yr old, used average once a week on minimal carpet areas. Suddenly it has stopped running after about 10 - 15 minutes of use. No smell No "hot spots" on the vac itself - so don't think it is overheating. No pets, so no extra hair. Clean it after each use.
What could be the problem? How is it solved?

Agitator bar on UH4700RM wind tunnel doesn't turn

Unfortunately you machine is a re manufactured vacuum and has a 6 month warranty. (The RM suffix indicates this ) You should take it to your local vac shop and let them look at it. It's probably a minor issue.

I have a Hoover Windtunnel UH70212. Just a few months old. I used the attachments a while back and now there is very little suction. The power brush attachment doesn't work at all. Any suggestions?

If there is no suction, there has to be a blockage somewhere in the dirt path. You should hear the motor working a little harder in this condition. Please check the entire dirt path from floor to exhaust (clean all filters too) to find the obstruction.

Thanks for your question @ FixYa.com

Hoover windtunnel dirt finder light stays red. We've cleaned the elbow the roller the hose and have a clean bag. The vacuum is new only had it for 3 months.

I'm not sure about a 3 month old vac, I'd probably go the warranty route. However, for the older vacs thy start getting false positives. The sensor is simply a microphone hooked to a computer chip detecting sounds of dirt entering the bag.
To rig it to start working, you'll need to remove the tool accessory tray and elbow that enters the back of the vac, and attached to the bag. This will reveal the microphone at the elbow, and wire that runs into the bottom area of the vac. When on, a large amount of air comes from the bottom screw and area where the wires enter. My fix was to clean up the microphone contact points a little bit with a screwdriver, and then leave the vac running while putting in dampering in the hole at the bottom, and around the back of the elbow. Cotton balls and electrical tape at the bottom hole, and napkins around the outside of the elbow (wedged between the back of the vac assembly and elbow did the trick). The schematic for the vac is here: http<colon>//www<dot>vacsrus<dot>com/CartGenie/pg_U6485900<dot>asp
Look for micrphone.

Hoover windtunnel..runs fine for 5 minutes then stops?

OK - sounds like your machine has a blockage somewhere. Follow manufacturer's instructions for clearing blockages and all should be well. If you no longer have the manual, you can download it from the Hoover website.
Good luck!

I have a hoover windtunnel upright vacuum bought it a few months ago and now the brush spinning stopped working.

You probably have a broken belt, or the belt came off. The Self Propel Windtunnel has an issue with the pulley that tightens the V-belt in place getting stuck and needs to be taken apart and released, but most likely its just the belt. They should be replaced every 6 months or so, and the part number is usually on the serial tag of the machine.

Hoover Windtunnel Bagless bolt fell off

With this self propell series, the entire bottom needs to come apart to re-install the nut. if it is one month old I would highly recommend taking it in for warranty service. What plastic is melted?

Brush won't turn

The belt may look ok, but if it is more then a few months old, then it has stretched to where it won't turn under load, just slips. If it is very tight feeling, then check down where the pulleys are, the V belt has a black roll that maybe jammed and not pushing against the V belt when the handle is in the down position.

Dirt cup lock on windtunnel vacuum won't lock

It may have to be taken off and then re-installed, but if it is only 1 and 1/2 old, then it is under warranty. There is a full year on Hoover vacuums. Just take proof of purchase with you and take it to a warranty repair shop. You should have their 1-800 to call and find the closest shop. Warranties are void if you temper with it.
