Are you using sp1? I think that this is the only version of xp that don't support SATA. Then it's time to upgade to sp2 at least.

HM251JI firmware

I suggest reading the manual for this disk, which can be downloaded here
http://www.nodevice.com/download/user_manual/samsung+hm251ji.html
At the beginning, Q5 says:

"I am looking for a Software & Firmware (mainly about drivers) but I

found nothing.

Where I can find I want ?

We don't release any firmwares.

Because the product has been already optimized with its own

configurations.

IDE (PATA & SATA) drive does not need any drivers. You just have

to make a partition and format your drive for using.

Please make sure whether you had partitioned and formatted.

First of all, you must partition and format for recognizing the new

drive in the Windows Explorer.

Within Win98 series, please use the Fdisk.

Within Win2000 & Win-XP, please use the Disk Management.

When installing Win2000 or Win-XP, the installation process
includes the partitioning step itself." etc.

How to format/install SATA 2TB hard drive (BARRACUDA) in Gateway GT5098E, Win XP Media Center Edition 2005?

Windows XP doesn't support SATA. You will need to use a program such as Nlite to integrate sata drivers into a new Windows XP disc. Once you have a disc with sata drivers just boot to the disc and follow the prompts to format the drive.

Hi, I have formatted the SATA hard drive in my Gateway GT 5408 with Intel motherboard D945GCFG1. I want to load XP pro instead of the original Vista which was on it. Do I need to change the Bios or install...

No, you do not need to install a new driver as long as that is the same sata hard disk tha used to work in your Gateway computer. Just boot into your windows xp installation cd and let the setup continue.

Should you need further assistance, please let me know.

Need to load xp on gateway

Do you have a full installation disc or an Upgrade version of XP? The full install should give you an option for partitioning and formatting the new hard drive as part of the installation process. From Microsoft, read this page for details:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313348 . You may need some additional drivers if you have a SATA hard drive. More screen shots and details are here: http://www.theeldergeek.com/hard_drives_03.htm .

An alternative way of dealing with the problem may be to use a third-party Partition Manager software (Symantec's Partition Magic, Paragon's Partition Manager). Paragon's site is
http://www.partition-manager.com/ . This site has various levels of Partition Management software (with different features available in the more expensive versions). You'll need the bootable CD version of the software (recovery disc, .iso) to do the partitioning.

I hope this helps.

(I thought the upgrade version could also be done to a new hard disc including the partitioning; all you needed was a Win OS disc from an earlier version to prove qualifying ownership.)

I want to format my system to xp but i can not do it, please help me, it showing not hard disk find

You most likely have a SATA hard drive in your laptop.

Windows XP does not have SATA drivers as standard as they were introduced after it. It only sees IDE.

When installing you will need to get a copy of your SATA drivers from the manufacturer and hit F6 when prompted to specify SATA drivers - this can be quite tricky with no Floppy drive.

If this is the case you should have a look at nLite and make a copy of Windows XP with your SATA drivers slipstreamed into the install so that they are automatically recognised.

Installing new sata drive in HP pc

a clean xp installation does not recognize sata drives at all. you can either use nlite to build a custom install cd, press f6 during setup to load additional drivers, try to change your sata mode from native to compatible in your bios or use your restore cds.

Samsung 250GB HD250HJ

Hey, congratulations on successfully installing the harddive.

Since its brand new, there is no volume in the disk (no partition and not formated)

To create a new volume and format the disk for the first time

on desktop, right click my computer icon, select manage from the menu, on the left side of the management window click on disk management

now on the right side, find your new harddrive, right click on it (its most likely the drive 1)

so right click on the 250gb hdd, create new volume, use NTFS default settings, and you may use quick format. normal format will take from 15 minutes to a hour or more.

with quick format the disk will be useable within seconds.

after this is complete you will see a new disk in my computer.

If you need more assistance let me know, I'm here to help
