I have a samsung s1000 and i went through the scanner at the airport and ever since it has not been turning on. when i hit power, it beeps and does not boot up.

Hi there i didn't find any reason of damaged your camera by the scanner. Because these days every time we scanned our laptop, mobiles. cameras, etc in airport. But any way you do one thing removed the battery & memory card from the camera. after that put back the charged camera inside but not memory card. Now on the camera. If you face the same problem then i am sure your camera processor in circuit board is damaged. So i suggest you please visit Samsung service center. You can see the image below and get the knowledge about damaged items.
