It sounds like you have something blocking the light path from the lamp. Unplug the unit and remove the back. Remove several screws to allow the light engine to be pulled back. You may need to remove some cables to get the engine out enough to work on it. If so mark the cables and plugs for proper reassembly. Remove the lamp and look into the engine to see if anything is blocking the light path. Perhaps a label fell into the path. Remove the top cover of the color wheel and check for something inside. Remove the top half of the back with the mirror, being careful not to break anything, and look for problems. Check the rear of the screen for any problems. This would be a good time to clean the screen and mirror. Use a lint free cloth and window cleaner. Spray the cloth with the cleaner not the screen. You should find something in the light path. If you do not then the lower 3/4 of the tft panels are bad or are not getting a signal. If that is the case you would have to replace the light engine. They cost anywhere from $300 to $400.
