My xbox is leaving a ring around the disk and screen is saying can not read disk. On a brand new game

I fixed this for me today. I opened the tray, and took the disk out. Just inside in the middle there is a small disk that rotates. I just rotated it a little with my finger to get it moving. Once it started spinning the disk tray closed on its own. I then put a disk in and it started reading it. I guess the piece that moves the disk got stiff and just needed some assistance. Hope this helps.

The eye on the xbox could have a scratch on it or the reading part of it could be burned out even if it is new they burn out quickly i noticed that certain games damage the lens....

The first xbox models had the same issue, I my self experienced it, but it was only once.

Replace the drive or talk to microsoft if it happens again

it might be the disk drive lens just inst reading. if you still have warrenty with microsoft call and tell them whats wrong. if not then it will be cheaper if you buy a new disk drive for your xbox 360 and have a game repair shop replace it or just take it to the game repair shop and they can tell you whats wrong for sure. but call microsoft first you have 3 year warrenty with microsoft depending around what time you purchesed your system.

Get a new one

your laser is going out or something, or its dirty. mine was doing this to me. eventually it would not see the disc at all and kept saying open tray. i bought a philips laser lens cleaner for around 8 bucks and its helped me out so far. from what i've read though, this is only a temporary solution and will require service eventually.

try using a disc cleaner in u xbox lense is dirty most likely

out of my years of xbox modding ive never seen this screen. but i have seen this screen in a modded x360. means the firmware on the dvd drive is not reading the disc properly. ive never seen this in a xbox

This happens when the disc touches the laser lens when the console is moved while the game is in it playing. You can fix this by either buying a monster clean screen cleaner or just go to your local Gamestop or Gamecrazy and have them buff your disk. It happened to me a few times, i got it buffed and everything is brand new.
