Hi Kelly from another Kelly.
For some reason your computer is doing an auto scandisk on your new drive. A 160 GB drive dould not take more than about 40 mins to check unless there are major issues with the NTFS itself.
This text / procedure is for XP. But go to my computer and rt click the icon in the start menu and then choose properties. That will bring up the system properties window.
Then click on the device manager
Expand Disk drives by click +
Your new HD should be the 2nd or (last drive)
Rt click the drive and choose properties
Once that comes up click on the troubleshoot bar and it should walk you through finding out what is happening with your new HD and help you correct the problem at that point.
Thanks for using FixYa!
Kelly
Kelly,
Since you have been accessing the net on your A5, it seems that the device has been infected with a virus. Connect it to the PC and scan with your antivirus SW. Also when it has been disinfected, you must plan to install an anti virus on the device to avoid such problems in the future.

Hi Sheila.
Thanks for the advice. I connected the Archos to my PC but it is not showing up in 'my computer'. Though it is charging fine. I guess this is problem number 2?!
