The drum could have gotten out of position. Try turning the drum by hand listening for where the noise is coming from and also try repositioning it by pulling and pushing while turning by hand.
It sounds like the drum may be stuck. Turn the dryer on with the door open, just keep the button pushed. Then try to turn the drum by hand, and see if it will start to turn.
There are two rollers that hold the drum in place. I'm betting that one of those rollers have broken or fallen off. It's not a very easy fix since you'll have to take the dryer completely apart to fix it. Good luck!

Go to maytag.com and put in your model# and dowload your manuel. get some info on your type machine and the scamatics on it. I dont know the age but it sounds like its in the drum. may want to calll a technichian out to look at it. if I can help please let me know
