How you adjust rear disc brakes

disc brakes adjust automatically unless they are binding in the caliper slides or the caliper piston is seizing. if your talking about the e-brakes then when you use the e-brake it will adjust other wise there is a plug(rubber)on the back of the backing plate that you remove and using an adjusting tool you can adjust them.

Adjusting 2007 aveo rear brakes

do not attempt any adjustments. replace the front brakes when they need it. if you try to adjust the proportioning valve you will lock up your back brakes and risk loosing control of your vehicle. you risk ruining the ABS system in your car which will cost you far far more to replace than a cheap set of brake pads. the front brakes do most of the stoping, that is why they wear out much faster than the back brakes. it is VERY IMPORTANT that you DO NOT attempt to adjust your brake proportioning valve.

I replaced the brake cylinders in my mothers 96 pontiac grand am.we bled the brakes all but one.....and there is not much of a pedal still?do i need to adjust the rear brakes or somthing?i have gone...

first you have to bleed all the brakes, then dissassemble the rear adjusters and clean and lubricate them, then adjust them so the shoes are just touching the drums, many brake systems do not self adjust with the forward and reverse anymore but require the parking brake functional to operate and adjust
