Blurry printing with brother 420cn printer

In order for your printer to work, you need a Software Installation CD (If you don't have it, you can found it on internet as a "driver" or "software"). For your model, click HERE , download this driver and then install it.

I have a brother MFC 3240C. My Black ink stopped printing(initially printed horizontal faded lines and gradually got worse), the other colors were printing fine. I tried cleaning numerous time( 50 -100 times over 1-2 weeks ). Still no improvement. The way I print now is:
1. I go to Printer Properties
2. Change Media type from "Plain Paper" to "Inkjet Paper".
3. Change Quality to "Photo".

This takes a long time to print 1-2 minutes per page. However, this works for me since this is my Home printer and use it for printing only few pages here are there.

Uninstall that program "coupon printer".. it's a scam program

printer is probably too old . buy a new one

or just print everything out in blue or sumtin other than black.

(thats what i do when my black ink is out)

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came withthe printer. When the software program asks you to connect theprinter to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

Get a new printer. What probably happened, is that your printer went dry, meaning there was no ink left, and that wrecked the printing heads.

When inserting a new cartridge, you may receive a prompt

"The installed ink cartridge differs from the original ink cartridge for the printer. Your printouts may be different from those printed using original ink cartridges. Do you want to continue using the currently installed ink cartridge?"

If you click Yes, printing will continue. If you select No, you will be prompted to change the cartridge. Manufacturer prompts may vary.

i reset the printer to the original factory settings, and now it works. thanks for your concern and help, richard

power off, remove all carts, power on, reinsert carts, say yes to questions

fails then replace cyan or ink well is covered in ink

It seems that another cart is empty. Check all cartridges when printer is off. And yes, you do need the color ones to print in bk.
