Hi, my Canon G9 camera seems to be completly dead. The objective is stuck in an expanded position and nothing I do seems to help (yes I´ve recharged the battery and tried to start with the controls in various positions) The problem occured when the camera was handled by a fourteen year old girl who assures me she did nothing wrong...
Grateful for any tips that can help me, I´m really dependent of my little camera!

thank´s in advance!

Hi Johan, this is a very common fault on all retractable lens cameras. I recommend that you follow the instructions in this link.

Ifthis fails then a professional repair will be the only option. Given the high residual value of your camera, I suggest that you avoid any of the fixing suggestions which are "all or nothing" (such as fix #7 in the link). Making the problem worse is going to increase the cost and may result in the camera being uneconomic to repair.

I hope that you manage to get your G9 working again, all that I ask in return is for you to rate my answer.

CAMERA WILL NOT SWITCH ON. THE POWER BUTTON SEEMS STUCK AT BOTTOM, WITH OR WITHOUT CHARGE

The Canon G9 has a design defect, two screws fall out inside the camera and short out the fuse. If you've never had it fixed for no power before this is most likely what has happened to your camera.

Do a Google search for "canon g9 no power repair" and you will see a full repair service including return shipping of your camera for just $85.

My two year old Canon G9 was working fine. I took the battery out to recharge it and now it won't power on - as if the battery is completely dead.

A great place to get help with these G9 no power problems is: www.camerasandparts.com
They just specialize in the service for the Canon Powershot models and they are very familiar with this specific problem. The nice thing with them is for $89, you get everything included in their service package for the G9, all parts / labor, shipping back and the service for the camera too. The best part, they include the no power correction to the internal screws for all of the G9's they service. If you need a hand, www.camerasandparts.com is the place for service on these. The work is excellent and their pricing and knowledge of these cameras is what I liked.

My canon g9 photo shot camera totaly dead board not working properly

Your camera most likely has a short from some screws that get loose inside of these cameras. There's a really good place that only services Canon Powershots. They are not expensive at all and they do wonderful work. It's $89 with them for parts, labor servicing for the camera included. If you're in the states, they give you the free Priority Shipping going back too which is nice. One of the neat things with them is that not only do they do wonderful work, they include the no power correction on any G9 they service, that way the problem doesn't keep happening. The website for them is: www.camerasandparts.com If you have a Canon Powershot, they're great for help with these cameras. Best of luck with the problem.

My canon G9 will not read my card and will not format.

Not sure what the problem is as your question is not complete. Try the site: www.camerasandparts.com They specialize in all canon powershot problems and nothing else at all. All G9 problems are there if you need help. Look under their complete service and repair. Common things on your model are no power, lens errors and a flash problem. Whatever is going on with your camera, they'd be the place to get help. Hope that is helpful.

Somebody was using my canon powershot g9 and when they gave it back to me the lens was out and it was dead. Ive tried everything from charging the batteries and everything nothing is working. Please help!

Camera likely has a common short that comes up on the G9 camera. You just need to get the camera serviced and you'll be back in business again. The site that specializes in service for the powershots is: camerasandparts.com They're amazing if you need help with one of these, that's all they deal with. The good thing with them is they do the correction so that common short never comes back again on the G9. Good luck, that's the place if you need help with a powershot model, they're excellent when it comes to service for these.

Canon G9 - camera went dead - battery is good - no mistreatment of the camera - one minute working the next - not

Camera was probably shorted out by a common loose screw problem on this model. If you go to: www.camerasandparts.com they specialize in Service for the Canon Powershots and they are amazing if you need service for one of these. They actually have this exact no power problem on their site for your model so you can get it taken care of for very little and have the camera serviced up completely. They also include the correction so this problem never comes back again. Try that site, that's where a lot of people go for help with the Powershots, good luck

How do you restart the Canon G9 camera?

There is not way to reset it if you get “lens error”. The lens stuck, you need to send it for repair.
