Question about Refrigerators

Westinghouse WSE6100SA fridge in side by side fridge freezer free

I have a Westinghouse WSE6100SA side by side fridge freezer. It is set at factory defaults of -18 for freezer and 3 for fridge. The fridge compartment has started freezng all the food. I have tried adjusting setings and also turning fridge on and off to reset but nothing works it keeps freezing the food. What could the probelm be?

The thermostat has broken down and needs to be replaced,, normaly when they brake down they just stay in the closed poshion so the fridge freezes up get a new one fitted and all will be well

    you could fit a new thermostat yourself but its not easy to do and they can be broken very easly,, i would fine out how much it would cost to have it fitted first,, if its going to cost you an arm and a leg then have a go yourself,, but if you busted it then its not getting any cheaper is it? you should also get a warranty for any work done, so if it did brake down again soon its coverd

Probably no best, but they are adjustable to your own preferance. The MFG Owner's manual has a "factory" recommendation.

We have a very old Westinghouse side by side brown. The fridge runs, but the freezer side is just cold like the fridge side should be, and the fridge side is warm.
You may need a new circuit board.

How do you remove the back of a wse6100sa refrigerator
The problem is the control for the fresh food section that controls the damper door controlling airflow. You have 2 controls 1 is the freezer control the other is the refrigerator contrl. The ref. 1 is the culprit.

easy, just remove and pay attention with the screws you remove and do not forget where they belong when you install the new one. dont worry they are all the same size of screws, if you see longer find where it fit, ok boss.

Freezer not working
Your refrigerator has a Control-defrost,adaptive timer ,PC board part number 241508001
This is providing your model is the one listed above your post WRS3R3EW. The model you listed in post does not come up. Until we can determine that the freezer is not defrosting you need to unplug and remove the back panel of freezer compartment to see if the evaporator coils are frozen or clear. If frozen this alone will cause a chain reaction that keeps vents to fresh food compartment open and cause freezing in that area. Westinghouse Wse6100WA side by side Fridge-icing up/not cooling
This is a bad design flaw, the fridhe is cooled by fan forced air from the freazer. Two ducts vent into and out of the fridge fron the freezer and ice can block them up (which you can find if you take off all the plastic at the top and back of the fridge).
Hence, when they block up, the frindge does not cool, hence the thermostat tells the fridge to keep running which makes the freezer colder and colder, making the blockage worse.

You need to not only fully defrost the freezer (which can be done quicker by removing the plastic panel in the back of the freezer and using a hairdryer) BUT also fully dry the fridge before turning it back on.
To stop it happening again, avoid puting unvovered liquids or hot items in the fridge. Also avoid leaving the fridge and freezer doors open for long especially in humid conditions. As I said, it's a bad design.

We have a Westinghouse WSE6100SA - side by side fridge freezer. Still under warranty. The repair guys have been twice now to temp fix the freezer, to no avail. the freezer is not freezing or I should say...
sound like the air supply baffel is the problem / or if the lower air vent is freezing over then the water is building due to icemaker / the water overflows on the inlet water fill tube to the icemaker and running down the inside behind the panel / they can take the fill tube from a ge icemaker kit and cut it in half and slide over the tube thats in your frig and it will keep it from running over / a problem wgi has had for awhile now / if you havent call sears i would since they should know the same.
