The backlight display of your camera is now defected cause of high vibration when you felt out and bangs into the ground. I don't see if this replaceble but you still has an option contacting the canon.

Think that you accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.
Just got a brand new camera. Played around with it a few nights to learn all the parts and buttons. Went to a concert tonite. While waiting for the show I took many test shots to see how the camera would work under these contiditions. Used a 75 to 300 Cannon lens. I had just got the settings about right when the show started. All of a sudden the display went dark and "busy" flashed in the view finder. But it would not take any more pictures. Taking the battery out and removing the sd card did not help. The auto focus and flash still worked but nothing else. This camera is going back to the store if I can't get some help. Hey birdstrike, According to the manufacturer there are two options. You can try pressing the display (DISP.) button, and if that doesn't work you are probably going to have to get it serviced by an authorized service center. There is a know problem with the CCD sensor on this camera and other model cameras that causes a malfunction when the camera is exposed to heat or humidity.
