Nothing will happen unless it's connected to a computer with scanning software running. If you want a copy you press copy and it will scan and make a copy, but if you want to scan you need the software to tell it how to scan, what you're scanning, and how to save the scanned image.

After upgrading the driver as above suggested, try initiating the scan by using the printer software. You can prescan and scan from that window. Another program may have disabled the manual buttons

SOURCE: cannot scan

You need to insert your set-up CD and click on "custom installation" then you need to install the OmniPage software. When you do this, the program will automatically open when you try to scan.

Good Luck.

SOURCE: my canon mp240 printer will not scan

It won't scan unless it's connected to a computer, and has the scan software running. Will it copy a document on the glass?

  2. Press and hold # and 3 while plugging in the power cord to the product.
  3. Release the buttons after the product starts up. The product will now be reset to factory defaults.

SOURCE: mp520 will not scan, document is on glass platen,

Did it come with any software? My printer wouldn't print when I tried using the scan button. If it came with software you could try scanning using that. If you dont have it it's probably available for download on canon's website

Wand Scanner - panscn08 buttons do nothing

Yes follow the first steps to set up the scanner (charge it, properly insert the memory card, etc.) Then you are ready to scan
Once you press the SCAN button and the Green LED stays lit its time to roll the scanner down your document to be scanned. When finished press the Scan button again to STOP the scan. If successful your Document count in the display will move from 000 to 001. That is the only indication that you now have a successful scan.
Next Press and hold the SCAN button until the display goes blank.
Now you can remove the memory card (by pushing in and it will release). Place this memory card into a memory card reader on your computer to transfer and view your scanned documents. Rinse and repeat.
BTW, I found a quick start guide for this Pandigital Handheld Wand Scanner Model PANSCN08 at:

Good Luck!

I press Scan but nothing happens. How do I scan on Canon MP160?

Make sure the scanner is connected to your laptop/PC before you press 'scan'.
Pressing the scan option will start Canan's software MP Navigator for scanning. You can also start MP Navigator on your PC and then start scanning directly from your program or from the printer button.

Nothing happens when I press the scan button

When you press scan, the unit must be connected to your computer and the computer needs scanning software running, if you want to make a copy you press copy and it will scan and print, in order to scan it needs to know where and how to scan and where to store the image.
