I have a Olympus VN3100PC. It was working fine and I hooked it up to an ear jack and for some reason it no longer will play sound. Any suggestions?

P11 only plays out one ear.

hi Charzie.
There can be many reasons that a pair of headphones only play audio out of one ear. The most common reason for sound to only come out of one side is the wires near the audio jack have gotten bent back and forth so many times that it has caused a short in the wiring.

Supergirl 13 color tv/dvd combo plays CDs but not DVDs...

If cleaning did not fix it the optical pickup for that unit is damaged in some way---if the set has audio/video INPUT jacks on it just buy a DVD player and hook it to the set.

If no jacks you are finished--DVD portion of the unit if available costs more than the entire set.

the jack inside the unit either is bad or the solder connections are bad...you can re-solder the jack(if you know how to solder) and see if this fixes it...or else you'll have to replace the jack(which may be avail. through Radio Shack)

Recording a Phone Conversation

Olympus makes a device that allows you to record telephone conversations without having to hook up anything to the actual telephone. It is called a TP-7. It connects one end to the voice recorder in the mic jack and the other end is an ear bud microphone so that you are able to record the person who you are speaking to on the telephone so that the voice recorder captures both sides of the conversation.
go to emporium.olympus.com click on the link for voice recorders select your voice recorder and then look for the TP-7.

Ear phone jack needs to be replaced

If you know anyone with soldering capability the pads on the headphone jack just need to be re-soldered. Mine did the same thing so I re-flowed the solder joint and now it works perfect.

I beleive that recorder is mono. You have to use an adapter for stereo headsets or listen on one side of the head set.

On/off button for Zen

Take it apart. Just google how to do it, i found a post with pictures and took mine apart without much trouble (just had to buy a $5 small screwdriver kit at radioshack). the switch for the lock is actually a metal piece that is moved by that **** piece of plastic. You can move the switch easily to where you want it and put the plastic piece in the correct position. -Stoney

No left ear sound.

That happened to me. It is fixable, but you need to open the caseing of the mp3 player itself. what hapened was that one of the dongles connecting the jack to the main chipset lost connection. you probably bent the headphone thing too much and it released.

to open the sansa, you must take out the battery. then you should find 2 black screws near the edge of the casing. Unscrew them and take off the black plastic cover. You should see the bottom is now totally silver. Near the headphone jack there should be another screw, Unscrew it. These are the only screwes you will need to unscrew from now. Next, Pry off the screen cover to reveal the chipset. Remove the connection from the chipset to the button pad. Take a standard screwdriver and carefully pry out the chipset, revealing the headphone jack. Be sure that the 3 dongles hooking it up to the chipset are in place. Put some tape on however you like, just be sure its tight, and be sure it doesnt interfere with any of the side buttons. Then add some more tape underneith the dongle for more support (do this unless you have a sodder, then sodder the dongles back on. Put the chipset back in the casing and replace the faceplate (dont forget to connect the button pad back to the chipset), and replace the back thing. Put the battery back in and test it. If it doesnt work then add a little tin foil into the back on the dongle. It should work.
