Tripp Lite OMNI 1000 LCD shows no error lights on display, but started turning itself off during the night. Now will not turn on at all. (Shows power input while holding down the power button, but will not stay on.)
Turn UPS on: Press and hold the ON/OFF button for one second.
Run a Self-Test: Press and hold the MUTE/TEST button for two seconds (until alarm beeps several times).
The test will last 10 seconds. All LCD Display icons will be illuminated and the alarm will sound.
If the fault icon remains lit, the battery-supplied outlets are overloaded. Unplug powered devices until you remove the overload.
If the "Replace" icon remains lit and alarm continues to sound, the UPS batteries need to be recharged or replaced. Allow UPS to charge for 24 hours and repeat self-test.
Why the Tripp lite unit does not show the "replace battery" symbol, I do not know, but replacing the internal 12Vdc 9Ahr battery seems to have solved my similar problem. It was relatively easy to do, unplug, remove just 2 screws with along + screwdriver, measure the old battery (95mm H x 65mm W x 150mm L), find an electronics store with motorcycle sized batteries but find the 9Ahr one with 1/4" slip on terminals, take the tape off the top of the old battery terminals, and put in the new battery. wiggle the two halves of the plastic case back together, trying to keep the circuit board at the top sliding into its slots, tighten the screws and test! Put date of replacing battery on top of unit on white piece of tape. Good luck!
Old battery is Vision CP 1290 12V 9.0AH valve regulated rechargeable battery, constant voltage charge, cycle use: 14.5-14.9V; standby use: 13.6-13.8V; initial current: less than 3.6A. The old battery was not taking a charge and showed less than 11V. Not sure of the date of purchase of this UPS. Similar units sold at Costco.
