"Disk not ready" message

I have been backing up Quicken 2005 to SanDisk U3 Cruzer Micro USB Flash Drive for 8 months on my emachines T5212 with no problem. Now, when I try to backup to the K drive, I get the message "The disk is not ready" and then, "File not backed up." The flash drive has lots of memory left. I have tried several Windows troubleshooting tips, but the responses have all been that the device or the drive is working properly. I uninstalled and reinstalled SanDisk and that didn't help either. I tried another flash drive and got the same "not ready" message. I had no success referring to emachines troubleshooting either. Anyone have an idea what could be happening? Thank you. I am currently working on Quicken Deluxe 99 and have been backing it up on my flash drive with no problem until now. When I start the back up process it asks me for Back up drive: which is F: for my flash drive and after I click ok it asks for Directory: and that says F:/ which before I used to click ok and now it tells me that the Back up and data directories must differ.

Unless you are using linux, try typing F:\ not F:/. Microsoft uses a backslash for directories while unix/linux use /.

My sandisk cruzer 4 GB pendrive ws working fine but now whenever i try to format\copy\cut it shows location 0 with used space 0 free space 0 what should i do

Your flashdrive usually shows 2 drives when inserted to your computer, one is the U3 drive and the other one is the removable disk drives. U3 drive is your separate partition for the U3 system and in order for you to store, copy, format your flashdrive, you should be selecting the removable disk drive, not the U3 drive. U3 is a read only memory drive that is responsible for your U3 to work (just like portable applications). Hope this helps.

SanDisk Cruzer Micro 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive My Drive is Empty How Do I Get U3Smart The Drive To Factory Settings. My Model is SDCZ6-4096A10 SN# BH0701l5B

According to Scandisk:

As of October 1st 2009, SanDisk started shipping the Cruzer Micro (SDCZ6-XXX) product line without the U3 software pre-installed on the device.

During the transition period, there may have been a small number of devices that were packaged in older packaging that states the device includes the U3 software. If you purchased one of these devices and would like to use the U3 software, please download and install it.

Dear Team Today when i try to use my CRUZER U3 (8GB) I GET MESSAGE "you have reached the maximum number of failed password...

Each U3 smart drive comes with a pre-defined number of login attempts. When you have only 3 attempts remaining, you will receive a warning message to prevent losing your data unnecessarily.
SanDisk does not have any method to bypass the password security feature on Cruzer U3 flash drives. SanDisk has not built in any back door or password reset methods. If the password feature is enabled and you exceed the number of incorrect password attempts, the drive will lock. Once the drive is locked there is no way to unlock the drive or gain access to the data stored on the device. You can only select the format feature, which will perform a secure erase (drive wipe) and data recovery will NOT be possible. U3 Cruzer flash drives which are password protected use 128bit AES encryption for data security

Sandisk flash drive

Is the account that your tying to access the drive with an Administrator account? If not, Log in as Administrator and try to access the new drive. If you ARE using Administrator privileges on the vista machine, the problem lies in the U3 smart driver. Try downloading and installing the drivers for the XP SP2 os on scan disks website, If vista rejects the install package off of the scan disk website, let me know and i'll extract the drivers and build an install for them for you.

"Disk not ready" message

Do a search on your XP machine for autoexec and then right click in the bar that says "Name, Size etc. and make sure to select "type". You will see that the autoexec is of type "NT" and not type bat. then try again.
