My computer wont turn on

My computer was working fine a couple of days ago. now when i try to turn it on, nothing happens. its like if its dead. I opened my computer and took off the psu and connected the power to it.The little green light in back of the PSU does turn on, but as soon as i press the on botton on button on the computer the little green light in back of the psu turns off. When i connect the 24 pin cable to the mother board and push the on botton on the computer, the computer doesnt turn on but the fan on the psu turns on. As soon as i connect the 4pin molex cable to the mother board the psu turns off. I have no idea whats going on. i dont know if the mother board doesnt work, or if theres a problem with the psu.

thanxs guys. but i know it's not the psu because i already tried it on another computer and it works. It has to be something with the motherboard.I just ordered the same motherboard and so im going to replace that. hopefully thats the problem and it works.

Hello I hope your not connecting power to the motherboard after you have pressed the power button on the computer. "As soon as i connect the 4pin molex cable to the mother board the psu turns off" Never connect anything internally to your PC while the power is on...not even a fan. Also disconnect the power source and touch the bare-metal parts of the case with your hands or arms to release static build up. I've seen the bios get reset from to much static..... and you could pooch your board or ram or......pick a piece. your problem does sound like PSU or motherboard. I would get hold of another PSU its cheaper than a mobo becarful of your case size restrictions though. and the type of connections you need for your drives If it turns out that its not your psu, its good to have a few spare around. (that's what I tell my lovely wife) as I'm sure you can attest to right now. Also before you go spending any money try this: unplug everything from your pc.... all cards out. disconnect all drives power and data cables from them, all usb, printers, mice. keyboards monitors fans (except the cpu and power supply fans)....the works you may want to pull the ram and only leave one stick in to check the ram modulus.
    if that works
We just want mobo in the case (you take it out of the case as a last resort ) cpu ,cpu fan, ram and power suppy 24 pin connected to mobo as well as the 4 pin (square I assume) all before connecting the power cord and then turning on the power supply to the cord. now press the power button on the pc and see if your get your fans running. if they don't run. try the other stick of ram if you have one or more..go through them all if they don't work I would try a new psu in fact a pc repair place may lend you one for a day to trouble shoot. If your fans did work you can shut down the pc by pressing the power button for 4 seconds. don't just yank the cord.( could fry the psu) connect the video card and try it again. connect the monitor and try it again. connect the keyboard and try it again and so on mouse, Hard Drive, optical drives let me know if you need more help

Take out the psu completely from the cpu/tower, plug in the power cord,if there is a switch on the psu turn it on, next locate the main power connector (24pin) and find green wire, take a piece of wire and insert it into the green wire connector, next touch the other end of the wire to the psu outer case or a black wire on the main connector,if all is well the psu will turn on,if you have a dc voltage tester check the voltages on the red and black wires on molex connector...5vdc,yellow and black...12vdc.if ok look at the main board and inspect the capacitors to see if they are swollen, if ok
replace psu and disconnect hdd,cd/dvd,floppy ect from main board only leave memory, processor and video, power on if ok shut off and reconnect hdd, power on, if ok shutoff and connect floppy, if ok power off and connect cd/dvd drive.during this testing you will know what is bad.let me know how it turns out.email; [email protected]

Electrical problems with my 96 honda accord

This happens because the removal of the current to the computer or CPU gets de-programed. You may be able to solve the problem (if it comes up gain ) by disconnecting the negative cable with the engine off. Then renstalling it back after a minute. This will reprogram the computer.

My hp ze4300 will not turn on

Has there been a power surge meanwhile? If so, try unplugging the power cord, press the power button, reconnect power and try booting. Sometimes works.
