Epson Stylus Pro 9800 InkJet Printer Logo
Posted on Feb 27, 2008

Epson 9800 I keep getting an error that states "low paper". Which is meant for low paper on the roll. I have lots of paper left on the roll. The same error comes on if I'm trying to print sheets also. The printer is only 1 week old. Any suggestions besides take it back? Thanks

Low Paper message on the LCD means that the media counter has been turned on and it is now at a point where the printer thinks that there is not enough paper to run a job. Here is what you need to do:

1) Turn the printer off
2) While holding the Pause Button turn the printer back on
3) Scroll down to Paper Count
4) Hit Menu to select
5) Scroll up to off
6) Hit menu again and a star will appear indicating that the Paper Count is off
7) Power down the Printer and then Power it back up

This should take care of it. If you have any other issues, feel free to contact me directly.

Problem Printing Sheet Paper with the Epson 9800

On the machines control panel set to sheet fed (pressing the left button will change from Sheet, roll and roll with cut). In the print settings select your paper profile. On the page setup choose sheet. In the pull down menu you should only have basic paper sizes, no custom size. choose 20x30 and try again.

let me know if this helps

Printing Borderless at 42" width?

Set the roll size to 44 inch, set your left margin to 0 (in your preprint software), experiment. With margins set at 0, using Onyx Productionhouse 7.3, the 9800 will print approx 41.8 inch image on 42 inch roll 43.8 on 44, etc. This is considered borderless printing. No matter what size roll you tell the printer it has in it, it will print to about an eighth to a sixteenth of an inch short of the paper's actual edge (that's the left side of the roll paper coming out of the printer - the right side of the print). If you load, for example, a 36 inch roll, tell the printer its a 44 inch roll, and send a 40 inch wide print, with a left margin of 0 it will print around 35.8 inches, cutting off the image just before it would overprint and get ink on the machine (1/8 - 1/16inch before the edge of your 36 inch stock). It is possible that these tollerances will be different depending on what software you send your images with... hope this helps!

Borderless error with 44' paper

Are you setting up a custom paper size each time? Check out page 91 of the 9800's user manual... it has a table of recommended custom paper widths for borderless printing.
