Most are held in place by 2 small screws, remove them and carefully unplug the cartridge from the tone arm, reverse to install new one, then check the balance the tone arm and set to correct pressure..
Stylus will only fit into certain cartridges. You have two options here. You can look up the cartridge number and make on your Detrola. It should be on the cartridge somewhere. Then search for the stylus. Or you can remove the Detrola cartridge and fit a new cartridge and stylus. As long as the cartridge will fit into the arm of your deck, plus it's the right type - ie: magnetic if the old cartridge was magnetic! Or ceramic - again if the old cartridge was...
Then you can use any make or model cartridge you want. As the quality of the sound can be improved - albeit paying more money for it - by having a good quality cartridge and stylus, it might be best in the long run to change the cartridge.
Hi, Grip the stylus between your thumb and forefinger. Pull the stylus down toward the front. As it comes loose replace the downward motion with a forward one. When fitting new stylus insert the tongue of the stylus into the groove in cartridge. Push it backward into place and then upward. John. Stylus City.
Since it's possible to fit any cartridge in most turntables the answer is to look at the make and number of the cartridge installed into the arm of your turntable. Put that into Google and the stylus should come up.
All stylus are replacable, you need only look at the cartridge, it should have a numbers/letters on it which will tell you the type. Put it into Google and you should find a replacement stylus. Alternativly you can replace the whole cartridge, any will do as long as it fits and is a magnetic cartridge. Google image search will help there, just look for one that looks like the one fitted. In the end it's down to price vs quality - the more money the better the sound you will get.
The stylus should not be a problem. Without knowing the make and model of the turntable, however, there is no way to respond about hte arm. You have listed this question under the Rotel receiver category, can you pelase supply the ,ake and model of the turntable? Also, supply any numbers that appear on the current stylus so I can verify that either the exact one or a similar substitute is available.
This is a VERY VAGUE description. I can name about 30 styli that fit this description.
More than likely the original replacement stylus is no longer available. You'll probably have to purchase a new cartridge assembly. The following should fit your model, however, if you can provide me with the model of your turntable, I can find an exact fit.
