Just bought new air...cant get connected to th internet...can ya help?

You will need to make sure your wireless card is turned on.
Click on the Apple logo in the top left and select System Preferences. Select the Network icon. In the left-hand column, select AirPort. Make sure the status says "On," if it doesn't, click Turn Airport On.
Select your wireless network from the "Network Name" drop down menu. You may need to enter a password if you have one set up. Your Mac should now be connected to the internet.
This assumes you have a working wireless network set up already.

You are probably right. Your laptop is not playing well with others.
First check to see if your wireless adapter on your laptop is turned on.
Then click the icon that controls the wireless connections to see if you can see your network. If you can, click on the network name and see if you can log on.
Next, temporarily turn off any internet security programs you have to see if you are experiencing a firewall issue. Check to see if Windows firewall is turned on for the wireless connection. If so, turn it off until you connect.

My wireless router wont work

Run a cat5 cable from the laptop to a cat5 port on the router, open internet explorer in the address window type http://192.168.1.1 or what ever the IP address of the router once you have accessed the router create your PPPOE internet connection, enter your Internet Service Provider's username and password. Once you have done this, disconnect the cat5 cable and connect wirelessly to the router from the laptop. If all this fails press and hold the reset button on the back of the router for 10-15 seconds this will reset the router to factory defaults. connect to the wireless router and create the PPPOE connection. It seems the two oval lights on the front of the Acer TravelMate 3003LCi are not only lights to indicate WiFi traffic, but also buttons to turn the WiFi radio on and off for security reasons. If you press and hold the left side button for 3-5 seconds it should turn back on the WiFi radio. Windows XP (and maybe other OS’s) have a power saving function that turns the radio off when not in use to save the battery, so you have to use the buttons to turn the radio back on. Seems like a pain in the @$$ to me, but it’s a clients laptop not mine so he will have to live with that.

I hope this helps someone so they do not have to go through the frustration of trying to figure out why the radio has been turned off.
