There's no need to "cancel" or "clear" a frequency. Just select the channel and program the new frequency -- that will automatically override the old programming. Need the manual for your scanner? You can download/print it here:

I bought a new noise canceling/reduction headset. How can I set it up? I tried to set it up by myself following the instructions being fed to me but the person I was chatting with could still hear some...

Usually with a noise-canceling headset, it might block out most noises, and varying to the quality it might or might not work with people's voices. Normally, there is a small switch on the headset themselves to start emitting a kind of "white noise" to cancel out the outside noises. The headset might cancel out noises that YOU hear from the outside, but it doesn't guarantee that through the mic.

I don't think there is software needed to be installed. I would look a bit more to the instruction manual to see the precise specs on the headset.

Please Rate. Thanks :-)

I was given an old uniden bearcat 16 channel 10 band scanning radio bc144xl and i would like to hear all the fire, police and emergancies in my area but i have never had a scanner befor and dont know the...

Programming the BC248CLT is fairly simple, and detailed instructions can be found in the factory manual that you can download and print here:

http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC248CLTom.pdf

What you can program and what you can hear will depend on your location. Many communities now use trunking systems and digital (APCO-25) systems, and your scanner is not compatible with either. For a comprehensive database of active frequencies and systems in your area, visit:

How do I get BC144XL channels into the scanner

Ok answers to both of you questions. First, in order to get you booklet go to:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/2056189/UBC144XLT

I found your booklet right there in black and white. The programming instructions are on page 11 of the viewer and page 9 in the manual itself.

Here is how to program a channel.
1. hit manual to stop the unit from scanning.
2. Input the Channel # you want to program.
3. Press manual again to go directly to that channel.
4. press the frequency you want on that channel, remember the decimal point.
5. Press "E" to save or "Enter" the frequency.
6. Lastly assure that this channel is not "Locked Out" by seeing that the L/O is not illuminated on the display when you are on this channel.

Hope this helps,
