10 year old 35'' Zenith TV will not respond to an RCA remote control. What code do I enter in order for it to communicate?

Sometimes the setup procedure might be not right. Check it with an other code. If you wish to get more setup codes, three digits, four digits or five digit ones, check this link. Pull up older posts. Setup code list and setup instructions to some popular model remote controls are given. Zenith TVs should synchronize with codes to RCA. Check the number of digit codes, that the TV asks. If it is a three digit one, and you are entering a four digit code, the TV won't synchronize.

If you have tried all the codes for the tv, and none of them work, the tv might be too old to respond to the newer remotes. Check that the batteries are inserted properly into the remote.
Some older tvs are just not compatible with todays systems.

Follow the steps below.

Press and "HOLD" CODE SEARCH.

Press and release the TV, VCR or Cable button you want to set up. If programming AUX for a device, press and release AUX first and then the device to be programmed (TV, VCR or Cable). When the selected device button flashes proceed to the next step.

Enter the three digit code from the TV, VCR or Cable Box code at the bottom.

Release CODE SEARCH.

With the device on, press another button, for example CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. If the device does not respond, repeat steps 1-5 using another code number from the lists.

Programming For TV
1. Turn on the device to be programmed.
2. Look up the brand and code number(s) for the device on
the code list at the end of this section.
3. On your remote control, press and hold the device button
you want to program.
4. Enter a code from the code list.
5. Release the device button, and then press ON•OFF to
see if the device responds to the remote control
commands. If it doesn’t, try pressing the device button
and then ON•OFF again.
6. If you get no response, repeat these steps using the next

It took me a week to find the right instructions and codes on how to do this so I am posting it everywhere I can to help out folks with the same remote. Pay close attention to the instructions, for instance when programming the remote for TV use make sure you hold the TV button down while you enter the code and then press OK, You also have to hold the TV button down while you use the volume and channel controls or it will just change the VCR channel.

Changing Remote Control Code

This Remote is capable of transmitting two control codes; one set
to respond to A code control signals and another set to respond to
B code control signals. This Remote control is preset to send A
code signals because your VCR is initially set to respond to A code
signals. You can easily modify your VCR and the Remote to
respond to B code signals. When using two JVC VCRs, set two
VCRs and their Remotes to different codes, so that you can
operate these VCRs separately.
