Why does my Compaq laptop keyboard free up and not work? My laptop keyboard will not work, but the mouse will. i have to use an external keyboard.

We have all done it .It was a cup of tea that went over my last laptop and there was no way that I could repair it. If you have insurance cover on it specifically you may be able to claim, otherwise expensive repair.

check the drivers file. and system file it may be corrupted. go to my devices check keyboard setting. and do same for mouse setting. use an external mouse to do this usb or cable.

not sure how to fix your installed keyboard, but a low cost solution is to buy an external keyboard and mouse combo, I purchased one for $22:00.

The monitor is defective and should be repalced. Keyboard and mouse pad problem could be a driver problem. Try to reinstall their drivers.

plz change pad or pad colour with dark colour and dont use transparent cover mous .

i reinstall all the driver of my vista laptop drive especially bios and restart my computer and this solve my problem.

did you try replacing the mouse? Or installed the mouse driver.

Try External USB keyboard - If that works -
remove usb kb

Open the chassis and reseat the kb connector. Try again.

If that fixes it, you're set. If not replace the kb.

Try plugging an external keyboard and/or mouse.

See if that works.
