1 Answer

On my Sony DSC-F707 the hue is off so bad that blue things are green and the reds are flourescent-like. Can this be adjusted?

I forgot to note that it doesn't matter how white balance is set. On auto it is way worse. It's almost like no blue is coming through at all.

I have reset the camera, twice, and it makes no improvement. When I switch to nightshot or nightframe it makes an audible click sound at the lense and the display goes very grey-green. I believe that is normal, but I have just purchased the camera so I'm not so familiar yet. Perhaps there is a filter that clicks into place for nightshot. I am starting to believe that the camera has been tweeked for better night use and I was not told. Or it's just out of adjustment. I have heard that the first run of these cameras were heavy on green and red. Probably costs alot to have it adjusted, too. Don't know yet.

You might need to set the white balance to auto WB.

    1. Have you tried pressing the reset button?
    2. Are you somehow set in "nightshot" or "nightframing"?

I wasn't aware that you just purchased the camera. I would return sounds defective.

Yes, Convergence settings should be tried first before any color adjustment or any fluid changes are done. Remember that there are 3 colors to notice. Red, Green, Blue. The Green is the only one that you can not move with an adjustment The Red and Blue is ligned up on green. Some cases it does matter how linear the Green color is across the board, just how close you get the blue and red on top of green is what matters.

57" Sony Wide Screen Projection TV with a green hue

You were given some pretty good advice but what you need now is a BK467 crt tester and the pin-out connections. Each tube, especially the green, will need to be tested for high/low emmisions and shorts. Don't take it on faith that having it rejuvenated will work for anything other than temporary either. You're probably lloking at replacing at least the green crt and it ain't cheep..
PS, don't kill the messenger either - - I don't like giving bad news and any shop you take it too will not relish in telling you what I just did.. I have 20 years in the repair industry and it's never pleasant telling a customer it's time for considering an new TV...

Undo White Balance Sony F707

If you have Photoshop: Layer>New adjustment Layer>Levels Use the middle eyedropper tool and click on something in your photo that should be gray/dark gray. Or: Use the white eyedropper (far right eye dropper) and click on something in the photo that you know is (or should be) white. You can try the gray first, then the white.
