I have a Kenmore Elite dishwasher (2004) and recently it has been leaking internally at a very slow pace. When not in use it will slowly fill until the floor of the unit is filled and then leak onto the kitchen floor unless we press the drain button and then it drains completely. The water seems to be coming from the front of the washer, potentially from the door itself. The amount of leakage is barely discernible but will fill over the course of a 24 hour period. The dishwasher otherwise works fine. Any ideas of the problem and a fix?

Hello,
The water is admitted into the dishwasher through a little magnetically controlled valve underneath your dishwasher. This valve opens and shuts electrically. There is a little plunger in it that is pushed shut by a spring when no power is applied to the magnetic coil. Dirt can get underneath the plunger and allow water to seep through the valve. That is what is happening in your case. This soleniod vavle will need to be replaced.
This tip is about that valve and will help you to idenify it, find a replacement and install a new one. The problem is different, but the reverse is happening for you.

Recently ran well low - no dishwasher not filling

Yes there is a screen in the water valve of the dishwasher. you'll have to shut off to the water line coming in to the dishwasher and disconnect the water line. then take off the water valve to get to the screen. you could have a stopped up screen or a bad solenoid switch on the valve.if you know how to use an ohm meter you can check the solenoid for continuity.

it is better to just replace the valve than to try to take the water valve apart and clean it.

you will want to check the float switch first before you do any of the above.

Dishwasher won't start until running until at

The 2 minutes is most likely the "Fill" time in the cycle therefore since the water supply is active the fill solenoid is spent or not getting a signal.

Washer tub slowly fills with water

Is your problem a SLOW FILL problem, or a problem with WATER DRIPPING FROM THE RUBBER DOOR SEAL - or BOTH? If you have a slow fill problem, this is generally caused by a bad fill valve, which can be attributed to hard water deposits or well water mineral deposits. Sometimes the fill valve can be removed, cleaned and reinstalled, but most of the time a new fill valve is required. If you are experiencing water leaking from the rubber door seal (bellow), it may be time to replace it. Sometimes the seal can develop a wrinkle or crease where it meets the glass, which can cause leaks. Water dripping from the door when you open after washing a load is normal. Water dripping during a load is NOT. The bellow may also have started to rip or tear inside the door which may not be noticeable until you pull the folds of the bellow back and look underneath it. I hope this helps.
