Pioneer VSX-D307 Receiver Logo

My Pioneer VSX-D1S A/V receiver will not power on; this began yesterday. Pressing the power button results in only a clicking sound along with the standby LED turning on. The owner's manual states to press the reset button when all else fails; this resolved nothing. The manual also recommended unplugging the power cord from the outlet and plugging it in again; this resolved nothing. Will the repair cost be rather high, i.e., around at least $100? If so, I'd rather buy a recent Pioneer model.

By the way, I've had this receiver since 11/1990 (bought it in Germany for $600). I've treated it with much respect and I feel that it's served me well for over 19 years; that's a heck of a run compared to what I've read in other blogs/forums on this topic concerning other more recent Pioneer models. I guess I might be visiting a local Best Buy this Saturday; ever since my receiver stopped powering on, I've had my eyes set on two particular models: one Pioneer, the other Yamaha. But now, given thebigdoghim's feedback, Denon is also now in the running.

Unit is pretty old I had one of these back in 98-99.

Time to upgrade a service tech is going to cost you $150 just to open it up and figure out whats bad.

Pioneer ok but check out Denon's line of receivers Onkyo is good too but they have a high rate of repairs

Pioneer doesn't make them like they used to that D1S was a tank, had tons of audio / video inputs was one of the first with video upconverting had lots of power and a great front display panel. BUT technology has come along way and pioneer hasn't kept up. They even stopped making high end TV's a few years ago even though they were regarded as the best sets out there.

check this out
Denon AVR-4310CIgoogle it they sell for ALOT less than sticker I bought one for $1299 with a 5 year warranty

Hope that helps

It shouldn't cost any more than $25.00 dollars to examine the unit and give an estimate as to repair. In most cases this cost will be aplied to the cost of repair. The unit is a sought after piece and even though it is only a pro-logic component can still be used as a decent two channel amplifier.

How to program my sanyogxdb remote to w ok rk my pioneer elite vsx 33 rece v er

To program your Sanyo GXDB remote to work with your Pioneer Elite VSX 33 receiver, you can try the following steps:
  1. Turn on the Pioneer Elite VSX 33 receiver manually using the power button located on the receiver itself.
  2. Hold down the "Code Search" button on your Sanyo GXDB remote until the LED light on the remote stays lit or blinks.
  3. Press the "TV" or "DVD" button on the remote, depending on which device mode you want to program the receiver to.
  4. Enter the corresponding code for Pioneer receivers. You can find a list of Pioneer remote control codes in the instruction manual that came with your Sanyo GXDB remote or by searching online. Enter the code using the number buttons on the remote.
  5. Point the remote at the Pioneer receiver and press the "Power" button. If the receiver turns off, it means the remote has been successfully programmed. If not, repeat the process using a different code from the list until you find the one that works.
  6. Once the remote successfully turns off the receiver, press the "Code Search" button again to save the code. The LED light on the remote should turn off or stop blinking.
  7. Test the remote by pressing other buttons, such as volume up/down or channel up/down, to ensure it is functioning properly with your Pioneer Elite VSX 33 receiver.
If you're still having trouble programming the remote, consult the instruction manual that came with the Sanyo GXDB remote or contact Sanyo customer support for further assistance.

Pioneer VSX 915 powe off

Had a power surge last night and got the same problem. Unit wont power on and has a blinking blue light on standby button. I found the solution from the service manual for a similar model.

Hold down ENTER and ADVANCED SURROUND buttons.

This resets the DC overvoltage sensor and bingo the unit comes back to life again.
