60 GB ps3 wont play disc

same thing happened to me i had to open my ps3 only cause warrenty was up but i bought a ps3 that got the ylod took that lens and put it in mine and that fixed it.

Wow that just happen to me too! it happened to me yesterday the 8th hmm....looks like it happen to us at the same day. I have joined the club of 60gig ps3 that wont read any disc....this is common on 60gigs.

aight now as you turn on your ps3 rub the top of the ps3 in a clock wise rotation just above where u put the disk in. it works i do it every time my system cant read a disc hasnt failed me 1nce

did you get your fifia 09 from another country?

if so then it wont work only ps3 games blueray work all over the world not ps2 dvds

Actually only 60GB PS3s supports PS2 games. But It requires particular firmware. In first instance try updating your system, then dissable the disc autoload function, insert PS2 game, and look at the game section if your soft will recognise it. If yes just try to play

no mate u need 2 send your ps3 back 2 sony this happened 2 me mate they havent got a solution 4 it they believe that the blu ray laser has burnt out meens you play 2 much lol

does it just bleep and say no disc ?
if it does take it back to the shop u got it from and they will have to give you a new one. This happend to my wee cusins 60 gb ps3 and he took it bck to the shop (game) and they had to give him a new 40 gb ps3 with £50 back because they have stopped making 60gb ps3 .
Or i suggest u contact sony and see what they say but i would still take it back to the shop u got it from .

The pal ps2 games and dvds will not play on a Japanese ps3 due to region coding. You can play all ps3 games and blu ray films because they do not use region coding. Some games will also play differently on a ps3, for example, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune (I highly recommend the game) will not have any blood on a Japanese ps3. The region coding feature can not be changed/modified. I would recommend returning Japanese ps3 and purchasing a European model instead if that is possible. Bon chance.

The problem with that is the PS3 that you bought is tuned for Japanese dvds and games, You may have to get your PS3 modded to support the French games. However I am unaware of the legality of having your PS3 modded.
